Labour Day weekend in Banff was absolutely crazy. We've stopped there only for a moment and ran out as quickly as possible to avoid the masses of people. Made a quick stop at Vermilion Lakes and here is a few of the shots I got.. Now, the kids are at school again and everything is getting back to normal..

This lake looked fantastic with all the snow and most of the lake frozen over. We've had so much snow this year that it looks like they are keeping the water levels lower than they could because of the expected snow melt. My daughter wanted to see what the lake looked like at this time of year and I'm glad we made the trip.

Maligne Lake

National Park of Canada | Parc national du Canada, Alberta

Maligne Lake is the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. Ringed by snow-and-ice-capped mountains, the 22 km long lake stretches past serene Spirit Island right to the melt-water channels of Coronet Glacier. An open forest of lodgepole pine and spruce, home of moose, caribou and Harlequin Ducks and many other types of wildlife surround visitors at the north end of the lake.

This is Johnson Lake in the stunningly beautiful Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Places like this are really hard to beat. The Canadian Rocky Mountains are really an awe to behold. I do not get to the mountains nearly enough. It's time to go again.

Lake Pyramide dans le parc National de Jasper en Alberta

Late evening at lake Mývatn located in North-east Iceland.

Echo Lake, on Mount Evans, Colorado, is a small, beautiful mountain lake enveloped in a lush forest of Engelmann Spruce and Subalpine Fir trees. We hiked around the small lake, and sampled a couple of the trails that have a trailhead at the lake.

My son-in-law hoped to fly fish in the clear, shallow waters of Echo Lake at 10,600ft elevation (3230m), but prospects appeared slim.

High in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the snow retreats to reveal a true summer paradise.

This is a glacier-fed lake. When the glacier migrates or melts in the hotter months, it grinds against the bedrock beneath it. This process creates the silt-sized, fine grained particles of rock flour that become suspended in meltwater and flow along the stream ways and into the lakes. When the sunlight hits the rock flour in the water it results in the cloudy, milky, turquoise colour. The colour varies depending on the season and even with the time of day.

Nothing can change anything about it: autumn has a firm hold on us.

This autumn is special. It's definitely too cold for October - only 1° Celcius on some days. It seems that we are heading for a very cold winter.

"These are just a few of the images we've recorded. And you can see, it wasn't what we thought. There's been no war here and no terraforming event. The environment is stable. It's the Pax. The G-23 Paxilon Hydro chlorate that we added to the air processors. It was supposed to calm the population, weed out aggression. Well, it works. The people here stopped fighting. And then they stopped everything else. They stopped going to work, they stopped breeding, talking, eating. There's 30 million people here, and they all just let themselves die. Such a beautiful night to be out shooting! Let us all live! The gkids and I had a great time out and about and went up to Lake Meridian by Kent Washington.

Bear Lake, a popular destination in Rocky Mountain National Park, features views of the Rocky Mountains including Longs Peak which is the highest mountain in the Front Range. Bear Lake's still waters offer pristine views of the mountains that surround the high alpine lake. Many hikers continue up to Dream Lake and Emerald Lake via the Nymph/Dream/Emerald Lake Trail.

This was taken on my recent trip to the Eastern Sierras. Blue Lake sits in the Sabrina Basin of the John Muir Wilderness. Many, many more to come....I hope you enjoy!

Another Photo from Roosevelt Lake Arizona. A wet winter Arizona has helped fill Roosevelt Lake up to the 70% mark. Lots of flooded brush to fish in and loose your Lures.

Moraine Lake is a glacially-fed lake in Banff National Park, 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) outside the Village of Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6,183 feet..The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinct shade of blue. The colour is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.

Soon the old pier will be submerged.

Foreboding clouds roll across Medicine Lake while it sits in winter hibernation. While the Maligne River pours into the lake from the south, the lake is actually a geological anomaly as there is no visible exit to the lake. The water however drains out through a cave system formed in the slightly soluble limestone rock. It does not surface again for 16km where Maligne Canyon improbably pops out of the ground. The sinking river system is thought to be one of the largest inaccessible cave systems anywhere in the world. Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

Sunset with a rainbow at Coot Lake in Boulder, Colorado.

Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake. The bright turquoise colour of the lake is a result of the glacier rock flour that is suspended in the water.

We we lucky enough to have a rainbow during our visit. This shot is taken from the Bow Summit.

Day 4 Travers Sabine Circuit, Nelson Lakes National Park, New Zealand.

This is Blue Lake - a side trip from the circuit and part of the Te Araroa Trail - a long distance trail covering the length of NZ.

The colour of the lake changed as the weather conditions changed.

I'm real proud of this shot because of the hike it took to get there. It had been raining on and off (more on) all day. Looking forward to seeing the lakes the weeks prior, I couldn't pass up on the opportunity. After physically and mentally preparing myself at the trailhead for 7 miles of precip and slippery hiking, there was fortunately only 30 minutes of rain throughout the hike.

As excited as I was during the last leg, I worried about the prospect of good lighting. The clouds were voluminous and were covering the entire sky. After arriving and scouting out this beautiful oasis that I had all to myself, within five minutes the sky suddenly lifted and left its beautiful late afternoon sun. Doesn’t get much more celestial than that.

Reflection of Lake

Late day lighting and extended shutter to smooth out the reflection on the breezy lake.

Photo 8 in the series. The challenge in such a series is trying to keep a consistency, but also a specific originality for each new shot.
