Beautiful autmun morning at Lackawanna State Park

The human heart has hidden treasures,

In secret kept, in silence sealed;--

The thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures,

Whose charms were broken if revealed.

And days may pass in gay confusion,

And nights in rosy riot fly,

While, lost in Fame's or Wealth's illusion,

The memory of the Past may die.

But there are hours of lonely musing,

Such as in evening silence come,

When, soft as birds their pinions closing,

The heart's best feelings gather home.

Then in our souls there seems to languish

A tender grief that is not woe;

And thoughts that once wrung groans of anguish

Now cause but some mild tears to flow.

Time for cool weather and falling leaves. Time for peaceful visits to the lake.

ho·ri·zon n. the scope of a person's interest, education, understanding, etc.

I believe that if everyone was to broaden their scope of thinking and expand their view of perceiving others, we'd all get along much better with each other.

More of the autumn color in Pennsylvania last month. These were taken at Lackawanna State Park, about ten miles north of Scranton where I grew up. The centerpiece of the park, the198-acre Lackawanna Lake, is surrounded by picnic areas and forest trails. Boating, camping, fishing, mountain biking and swimming, are popular here.

Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable. A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed.

Ever so softly, calling.

Sending my voice to you--

I love you.

Reaching, touching, caressing.

Returning your message--

What does it say?

I listen.
