Labor Day 2019 have a nice holiday and take a break, greetings from North Carolina.
For the working class of America this day means a three day weekend and an opportunity to have a BBQ and a family gathering, but it's been a generation since inception and I'd like to make a reminder here. We scoff at what China is doing right now, but they are going through the exact same things America did in the not so distant past. Slavery, indentured servitude, child labor, and then union strife. Like reading a book you can see them turning the page on greed as these things for them like us will be overcome and the people will be respected and compensated fairly hopefully sooner than latter. I believe that America can help by removing them from most favored nation status and force them to this centuries standards on how we treat people and pollution. That said, I thank goodness for those MILLIONS who fought, who died, who persevered to free our slaves, who outlawed child labor, who organized our workers so that they may be compensated according to their labor and hold accountable those in power to protect those who are not. Power to the people, and God bless America.
Deer Creek Scenic Railroad's tradition of running doubleheaders on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends continued into the 1980s. Southern Pacific 4-6-0 No. 1744 (Baldwin, 1901) and Santa Maria Valley 2-8-2 No. 100 (Baldwin, 1926) cruise through scenic Heber Valley near Charleston, Utah on Sept. 3, 1984.
The Deer Creek Scenic Railroad continued the long established tradition of running doubleheaders on Labor Day weekends. Southern Pacific 2-6-0 No. 1744 pulls while Union Pacific NW2 No. 1000 pushes on the rear of a packed 11-car train approaching Deer Creek Dam at Wallsburg, Utah on the afternoon of Sept. 1, 1986.
I'm always delighted to see if old houses are renovated in old fashion, which in Istria means in uncovered stone.
Deer Creek Scenic Railroad continued the Heber Creeper tradition of operating doubleheaders on Memorial Day and Labor Day. Sept. 3, 1984 was no exception as 2-8-2 No. 100 (Baldwin, 1901) and 2-6-0 No. 1744 (Baldwin, 1926) pull nine cars packed with holiday riders at Casperville Road near Charleston, Utah.
Rails, brass and fans go about their respective "jobs" in Barstow, CA on November 15, 1972. It's all a "labor of love" don't you know.

In my country, this is the first weekend in September, when the family packs up and goes camping and the Dads labor to show how to pitch a tent and build a fire, and the Children sit around staring at their Gameboys, DS's, and iPads and wonder what they are missing. The Mothers try to be patient and it all holds together until about 2 in the morning, when the screaming starts.

Recent additions to the vintage rust collection at the Psycho Silo near Langely,IL. Both trucks look like they seen their share of hard labor over the years. The GMC was used as a city truck in Ottawa,OK. while the old Autocar truck was apparently used by an excavating company. Despite there hard lives, both are just plain cool...
Happy truck Thursday all!

Today we celebrate Labor Day in America. It's also the unofficial last day of Summer so what better way to say goodbye to Summer than with a Sam Adams Summer Ale and welcome Fall with a Sam Adams Octoberfest. I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday!

Labor not — for one day,
just sit, breathe, and rejoice
drinking what you please
and enjoying what you may.
Have a safe enjoyable labor day.

A public holiday of festivities held in honor of working people -
May your long holiday weekend be free of labor...
My husband and I collect rocks. Anytime we walk the shoreline we look for rocks that are unique. They can be fossils, something significant for the area such as Petoskey stones, or just have a cool shape to them. We've also found sea glass and some pretty cool shells. Anyway this is a small part of our collection that we so love...
