A nice walk along the Colorado River in downtown Austin.

Day 180 - Made a detour last night on the way to Torchy's Tacos to get a fisheye shot of the famous Plastic Pink Flamingos in Austin. I guess they culled the flock, because it seemed like there were less than usual. The sun was riding low in the late afternoon sky so I was able to get a little flare in there too.

HCS!

If you live in Austin and want a really good taco, get the Ace of Spades taco of the month at Torchy's. OMG!!

Saw this streetart as we were driving through Austin, Texas.

Okay last one for tonight. Worked on this one a while back. It was actually shot from the car while at a stoplight. Didnt think it was anything great but now after seeing it again after along time, it has grown on me ;) I like it a lot on black. Good night !

Austin has a nice skyline in my opinion, and it is growing more almost everyday. You can see the cranes at work in the distance. The large building going up is The Austonian, a 55 story residential tower with luxury condos and some amazing views. When finished later this year, it will tower over everything else in town. Austin has grown a lot over the years, and folks have moved here from all sorts of places, but we are still a cool hippie town at heart. The town motto is "Keep Austin Weird" which is a plea to support local businesses. I think it makes a difference and helps us maintain our uniqueness.

Austin's annual Trail of Lights in Zilker Park, Austin Texas, December 19, 2008. Named one of the Top Ten Holiday Lightings by USA Today, the Trail of Lights Festival was held annually between 1965 and 2010. After a two-year absence the light display returned in 2012.

We got some new light painting tools last night and one of them happens to be amazing. Ok more than one but this one is particularly awesome.

This painting was Amanda's idea and execution. Exposure and editing by Gabe. :) SOOC with CS5 RAW adjustments, lens distortion correction, and horizontal flip.

...if your saturday evening is the 4th of July and you live in Austin, Texas... :-)

The fabulous Fantanas pose by streetlight on Halloween 2008 on Sixth Street in Austin Texas, October 31, 2008.

The Fantanas are four mythical females from a far away island who have captivated the world and fundamentally changed the face of fun. But Summer, Isabela and Melody are the new Fantanas who, with a bold attitude, catchy jingle and innovative dance moves, are spreading flavor and refreshment across the country.

Found a little stuffed bat at #monkeysee wearing this shirt and knew I had to buy it for Ridley! She's a real Austinite now! #minifee #Ridley #keepAustinweird

And for those of you who don't know, that is the Austin, Texas motto! As someone who likes to let their freak flag fly, I'm thrilled to live in a place that embraces weird! People walk around in "Keep Austin Weird" shirts all the time that look just like the one Ridley is wearing! So I had to get it for her!

Texas Independence Day parade...Austin, Texas...March 1, 2008

don't think i need to add anything more to this...lol! :-)

This was taken this past weekend during the meetup of several photographers, mostly Light Painters at the 360 Bridge in Austin, Texas. While waiting for Greg to do his epic spin off the center off the center of the bridge (See Andy Dufeau's shot for the best angle!), a brightly lit boat came crusing down the lake and pulled into the boat ramps next to where we were set up on this side of the bridge. There was a string of super bright Green LEDs down the side of the boat so this is what came out of the camera! Now to work on Light Painting with Airplanes!! ;-)

The rest of the gang at the meetup included myself, Atomic Queso, Spectral Convergence, Andrew Nourse, Jake Ramirez, Andy Dufeau, Ryan Nesloney, Todd Blaisdell, Eric Kotara, and a few others that I am not sure have a flickr account.

This photo makes me smile. Wishing everyone a great weekend. With Frank Turner in my headphones, I'm headed out on my bike to pick up a few plastic pots out of the recycle bin at Great Outdoors.
