I was on Jersey for a wedding, staying in a hotel with this as my view (to wake me up), and I just had my little compact Ricoh with me. After taking a few shots through the window, I wanted to get a shot without the hotel furniture in the foreground . So I climbed out of the window (just), took some photos (unfortunately with the sunbeams gone), and looked for a way back into the hotel at a little after 5 o'clock..
When I failed to find an entry, I tried to climb back through my window -- at my age -- no fool like an old fool -- etc etc. I survived......
I wish I was better at post processing. I feel there is a really good photo there somewhere. If I work it out, I'll replace it. I love the way the palm echoes the sunbeams.

The start of a very special day. How's that for a Good Omen?
The wedding day of one of my sons.
And Hundredth Birthday of my father (d. 1972)
This was quite subdued light at 5 a.m. I probably won't be able to resist doing one with more contrast and drama. Obviously I took a bunch.

NS 1071 (Jersey Unit) lead's CN M337 through Galena, IL 2-19-14 There's a story behind this. The last place I thought I would be when I started my day. I though I had no chance on catching this unit it went through Rockford, IL around 7:15 PM it had to work in Freeport, IL. I got back to my terminal 8:00 PM and hit the road at 8:15 PM and headed west. First stop was Warren, IL I did not have the settings on the camera right so I blew the shot. I packed up headed further west to Galena, IL I got there and Kevin Vahey had already staked his claim on the depot so I set for this shot. Not known Kevin and I use the same triggers for our flashes I took a practice shot just before the train got here well it set his flashes off as well so he run to set his triggers on number two but we were different side of the track's. the train was going by real slow. So Kevin packed and left I did not know if he got the shot I worried all night about that I was not going to post this shot until I heard he got his out of respect. I heard from him this morning and he said his shot came out good what a relief.
This is a reverse macro taken at my friend's beautiful new home in Jersey, while waiting for the girls to get ready. It's actually fabric. But once I have run an action called 'melon' you would never know. This is also the first image I have automated my watermark=progress, yay! Merry Christmas Flickers! x
Este es el último jersey que he hecho, esta vez con hilo egipcio y como me ha gustado mucho el resultado, estoy empezando otro más en otros tonos, a ver que dibujo le puedo poner a ese :D
