Just off the highway

to Walnut Grove, Missouri

twilight falls softly

onto winter grass.

And the eyes of two

Indian ponies in the pasture

darken with kindness.

They have come gladly

out of the willows

to welcome me.

They have been grazing

all day, alone.

They ripple tensely,

can hardly contain

their happiness

that I have come.

They bow their heads

shyly for my hand.

There is no loneliness

like theirs.

At home once more,

I would like to hold

the slenderer one

in my arms, for she

nuzzles my left hand.

She is black and white,

her mane falling wild

on her forehead.

And the light breeze

moves me to caress

her long ear, delicate

as the skin over a girl’s

wrist. Suddenly I realize

that if I stepped out of

my body I would break

into blossom.

Danuko, 95 year's old and her husband, Shamlu Naik, 96 year's old posing for me. They are sitting on the charpoi under the porch of their house in a little village not far from Nagarjuna sagar.

March in North Carolina means reasonable weather (bet it's not snowing there today...), blooming tulips, and sights like the one above for very sore eyes. I cannot wait to go home.

Khajurâho, Madya Pradesh.

Yugar, Zanskar

She was not comfortable with my presence on the terrace. I was lucky to get this shot.

The second major phase of construction came much later, in the early 18th century, in the reign of Maharaja Ajit Singh (r.1707-24). Both the long gap and the renewed zeal have a historical explanation. Departing from normal practice, Maldeo designated his third son, Chandrasen, as his heir; and Chandrasen’s envious elder brothers sought support from the Mughals in an effort to unseat him.

As in nature, as in art, so in grace; it is rough treatment that gives souls, as well as stones, their luster.

Tiny fish gathered around their coral home.

Got this pretty bangle in Delhi. We saw lots of those green indian parrots when we were there.

A fusion effect of the indian spices - turmaric powder, chiili powder and Garam masala captured with the reflection of the house

not sure what this was, but it was in the middle of the farm land in behind the place we were staying
