Watching the crowd eat in between the films of #iffr. The yellowish ballon is a gorgeous lamp in the shape of a cloud. And it should be blue. My camera didn't see the blue. :-(. #mylifeinpolaroid #365polaroid #colorshade #impossibleproject

Rotterdam, Pathé multiplex cinema.
Damn, sometimes one just can’t keep up with the cultural program of Rotterdam! At breakfast we were talking about going to the Indonesian Film festival and after checking we saw that it was allready over. So no recent cinema pic today .
Sembilan Naga (9 dragons) is a film of the Indonesian director Rudi Soedjarwo. This pic was taken during the IFFR of 2005 at the Pathe multiplex on the Schouwburgplein Rotterdam, the main venue of the festival. We were having a drink and were waiting for the screening to start.
Catalan director / writer Pere Vilà i Barceló outside the Cinerama theater, after the second screening of his movie Pas a nivell (Rail Road Crossing) . The movie had its international premiere at the IFFR.
The film is about. an adolescent, Marc, who is in the final year of high school. He spends the summer at his home town, a Spanish summer resort.
In my opinion, it portrays very accurately the feeling of nothingness and lack of direction that a person can experience when moving from one life phase into the next.

The Cinerama movie theater is far older then the Pathé . It once was a giant screen cinema, the only cinema in Holland using the "Cinerama" system. It was converted to a 5 room multiplex in 1980 and in 2002 to a 7 room configuration - by dividing the big room in 3. Some of the classic movie theater atmosphere is still there. Cinerama is now the biggest art house cinema in the Netherlands (1026 seats).
A web page about the tech and history of the Cinerama system is: here.
