My first attempt at capturing the lighthouse here on the Hudson river, not hugely happy with it, but i do like the steam on the river and the Autumn colors.

one from the other night.... the reflections were some of the best I have ever seen, the water was absolutely still, very unusual for the Hudson.

Hudson River... Best if viewed large

1946 Hudson Super Six with suicide doors. This beauty is chained to a poll at an old gas station in Tolar Texas.

Taken at Peekskill park on the banks of the Hudson River.

After several hurricanes and heavy rains, the Hudson was quite muddy this year.

A short ghost story:

As old folks tell, the car belonged to two thieves who had stolen diamonds in the Sperrgebiet (Diamond Restricted Area) and fled in this car, followed by the police. At this spot the diamond detectives caught up with them and both Thieves were killed in a gunfight (the bullet holes still bear witness). It is said that the diamonds were never retrieved and the two thieves are haunting the Ghost Valley in moonlight night ever since, still looking for the lost diamonds...

I was planning on going to a spot in Hoboken that i wanted to re-shoot but it was double fenced in with all kinds of signs indicating there was video surveillance. So I rode my bike north until i found something that I wanted to shoot. It was a really nice evening so I didnt mind riding a few miles to find this spot, and checking out some places I had yet to explore. The sky turned out to be really amazing.

In the foreground is what I think are the remnants of an old pipeline that used to go into the river. This picture was taken in North Bergen NJ, across the river is Manhattan. The area in Manhattan that is in view is approximately Chelsea to around 90th street.

Theme 2009: USA, New Amsterdam - New York, 400 years

The links between the Netherlands and the United States go back a long way. In 1609 Henry Hudson, on behalf of the Dutch VOC [Dutch East India Company], stepped ashore on what is now Manhattan and New Amsterdam was established. Later, the name was changed to New York.

In 2009 at Keukenhof we will reflect extensively on the historical relationship between the United States and the Netherlands.

Such a stylish car had entered in NASCAR before.

This was shot from the 79th Street Boat Basin in Manhattan looking towards New Jersey in the early evening.

Converted in PS and in channel mixer duplicated Agfa black and white film iso 100. Added a light blue tint and a slight S curve.
