One of the hot springs in the Geysir location - while technically possible to bathe in this particular pool, it's obviously closed to preserve it from damages

Yes, this is molten lava.. The main photographic challenge is to avoid accidentally cooking yourself ;)
Unfortunately by the time I managed to walk out to the lava flow the light was failing, so I couldn't take as long over the composition as I might have liked... Still I think the shot was worth melting a pair of shoes for!
There are three main types of lava, pahoehoe, pillow lava and a'a. This is the slower moving pahoehoe type. The lava itself consists of molten basalt at roughly 2000°F (~1100°C).
This lava forms part of the Kalapana Lava Flow on Hawai'i, and has erupted from nearby Mt Kilauea. Kilauea is home to the Hawai'ian volcanoe goddess Pele.

Shot at dawn! - this is at Hot Water Beach about a week ago on NZ''s Coromandel Peninsula
Yep I'm still alive and probably still won't get much flickr time for a while (wife's gone back to University for four years full time, kids keep me well busy and laughing, blah, blah , blah :-) but thought I'd better at least upload in a coupe of shots over the next few weeks. I will also try and drop by some streams over the next day or so, certainly miss the work of my contacts,
happy Mondays for tomorrow!

Why the title:: An explanation off a tourist website : Some volcanos develop huge underground reservoirs of superheated water. Over time, this water will escape to the surface — cooling on the way. There are two fissures at Hot Water Beach issuing water as hot as 64ºC (147ºF) at a rate as high as 15 litres/minute. This water contains large amounts of salt (NOT salt water), calcium, magnesium, potassium, fluorine, bromine and silica. There are other hot water springs nearby but the location of these two springs on the beach make them unique.

Un'enorme distesa di peperoncini piccanti pronti per essere venduti ai margini del Deserto del Thar, nel Rajasthan
Rajasthan - Thar Desert: Chili for sell along the desert road.

... Seems to be the theme of my afternoon!!
NOW, this is what I went out side to shoot, before I discovered the cats.
I'd been watching these chillis for a week or so. They were from my neighbour's garden, but they'd grown through our fence. I love the color of them.
Anyhow, that's not the only thing that was hot today!! As I drove to town this arvo to get groceries, Miss Daisy, my Corolla, got the hot flushes!! A burst radiator hose. So it was a LONG afternoon!!

This weekend we had the Bristol International ballon fiesta where they have mass hot air ballon launches. This shot is taken from inside of the ballon while the balloonists are getting ready.
Hot week thus far & my lovely lady loves running outside, but since she has a dark coat of hair she tends to get hot quicker than the other pups. Maybe I should get her a white sundress to run around in..hehe. At least it would keep her cool!
I'll try & post up more pictures this week. Best to you all.

The markers of the submerged "hot pipe" from Shoreham Power Station. Given today's wind, I was hoping for a bit more cloud motion to go with the big waves for this "big stopper" shot. I should have set the tripod lower, to reduce the camera movement during 20s exposure.

With its pedestrian-friendly layout and innovative urban design, Savannah serves as a balm for the senses. The city inspires visitors with its emerald tree canopy, quaint cobblestone streets and majestic architecture. Take the time to wander off the beaten path, and experience the history, beauty and charm of this beloved coastal city. Savannah is most picturesque in the spring, when the azaleas reach their full bloom, blanketing the city in an explosion of color. Wisteria, dogwood and jasmine also come into bloom this season, releasing their intoxicating fragrance.
