Thunderheads have cleared the Twin Cities and are well into Wisconsin leaving a very nice back drop, minus the wires. Unfortunately the sun has set on us as we get the only shot of the day with the power moving through Hopkins.

My first outing with the Sony A7R, it's a big change from the NIkon D800. I think the D800 is a tougher built camera, however the A7R is so much lighter, and the picture quality exceeds the Nikon D800. This was a single shot, and the dynamic range is better than the D800.

Also It's sharper than the D800, but that could be the Zeiss lens. I find the back LCD screen much sharper than the NIkon. I'm still getting used to the SVF, but it's big bright and clear and it's great for manual focusing.

Happy days :-)

She made my day that evening, I was having fun with the regulars (Ripon, Saif etc.) and out of nowhere she came and joined us. There are so many Malekas out there but I doubt if anyone resembles my fav. actor (Anthony Hopkins) more than that.

Quite similar to the other one except this one is falling apart more visibly.

Johns Hopkins Glacier is a 19 km long glacier located in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is currently the only advancing glacier in the bay.

Wiki: "Johns Hopkins Glacier is a 12-mile (19 km) long glacier located in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in the U.S. state of Alaska. It begins on the east slopes of Lituya Mountain and Mount Salisbury, and trends east to the head of Johns Hopkins Inlet, 1 mile (1.6 km) southwest of the terminus of Clark Glacier and 79 miles (127 km) northwest of Hoonah."

According to our Park Ranger Guide, the tidewater terminus is about a mile wide, 250 feet high and 200 feet deep. It is one of the few advancing glaciers in the area. Most of the other glaciers have been slowly receding over the past decade.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Walking along Monterey Bay in Pacific Grove, California

Great to see there is still a large volume of water coming over. 20-11-10

Haven't seen this much water over the falls for many years.

These falls are close to where I grew up, and I always love to come back and see them.

There's a lovely picnic area and carpark, steps down, as well as viewing platforms. None of these were here years ago. Now they are a big tourist attraction in the area, and well worth a visit

During the annual eel migration, the elvers(juvenile eels) can be see jumping up the rocky ledges of the falls.

This was an experiment to create a lo fi look using a plastic bag colored with markers over the lens. No digital filters were used.

John Hopkins Glacier - Detail

It was the colours and textures on the face of this glacier, despite the rather flat light, that grabbed me. The sheer size of these natural phenomenon is hard to grasp, even at relatively close quarters.

During the 14 months in which he searched for witches in East Anglia, Matthew Hopkins is believed to have been responsible for about 400 deaths. To give substance to his activities, he claimed that he held 'the Devil's list of all English witches'.

Well I really wanted a break from any type of medieval builds, but then I got asked by a friend if I would like to display a model at our local town hall for a witch exibition. I couldn't really say no as I did a display for them the previous year. So here it is!

This is the old closed and deserted Hopkins County Hospital. This is actually where i was born which makes it kind of interesting. This is actually a layered image of a cloud cover and the hospital to give it that foggy Surreal look. It was combined in Corel and the final touch was a Fuji 160 film look from Exposure 2.
