Dome of St. Stephen's Basilica

Budapest, Hungary

This dome is 96 metres tall measured on the outside, which is the same height as the dome on the parliament buildings (photo yet to come) to symbolize the balance between church and state. No other building can be taller than this in Budapest.

It is the highest point in Hungary . ( I did no see any Japanese ladies taking selfies )

“The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica and often simply Sacré-Cœur, is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Paris, France. A popular landmark and the second most visited monument in Paris, the basilica stands at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city.” It’s a beautiful church, both inside and out, and is visible from a great distance. If you’re brave enough to climb that hill, and then the many steps to the top of the church, the view of Paris rooftops and landmarks is breathtaking!

The first morning sunlight strikes the upper slopes of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), the seventh highest mountain in the world. The name Dhaulagiri means dazzling mountain in Nepali.

ODC: Childhood memory

As a child I played this game with glass marbles.

Northern Hawk Owl on the highest perch allows him to see what's around him. It also gives a clear and unobstructed view of the owl itself.

It's rare to find Scafell Pike, Scafell and Helvellyn (England's three highest mountains) in the same picture, but .....

There I was, somewhere on the ridge between Causey Pike and Scar Crags, taking some twilight views, when it seemed like a good idea to blend some of them together in camera, so that's what I did.

Scafell Pike and Scafell (separated by Great Gable) are just right of centre in the back row, while Helvellyn is slightly to the left of centre two rows in front. In reality, the Scafells lie about 8 miles south and Helvellyn about 7.5 miles east south east from where I stood...

The North Face of Annapurna I (8,091 m), the 10th highest mountain in the world. First climbed by a French expedition lead by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, who summited on the 3rd of June 1950 just before the monsoon storms arrived.

I took this shot just after sunrise, leaving a village called Ledar alone and hiking towards Chulu West to around 5,000 m altitude in order to see over the valleys seperating me from the Annapurna Massif. It was my first view of Annapurna I of this trip and it felt incredible to finally see the mountain about which I had read so much. Although I was so high and surrounded by ice, the sun was incredibly hot, the silence punctuated only by the cracking and groaning sounds of the seracs of Chulu West (6,419 m) so close behind me.

We're still in Percy's Reserve at the entrance to the heavily populated Hutt Valley just north of Wellington New Zealand...

The Track to the foot of Percy's Waterfall is well maintained and meanders up the side of a small stream through thick native forest (or "Bush" as its called in New Zealand!).

Percy's Waterfall is certainly no Niagara Falls, but they are still worth a visit. The volume of water flowing down these Falls may not be great, but it is never-the-less the highest waterfall in the Wellington region!

However, it's not the Falls themselves that make this Site so attractive to visit but rather the thick Bush that the Visitor has to walk through to get to them...

And I should add that this is only the top half of the Falls...!

happy birthday liebe Simone! <3 <3<3

unfortunately the weather at germanys highest mountain called the zugspitze (2962m) was very very bad - snow, wind, mist. But I thought the church in a complete white picture looks nice.

This is my contribution to Macro Mondays Group. The theme is: handmade.

This is a bracelet made from rubber elastic bands. It was handmade by

my 9 years old son, just for me. It is an early Christmas present and no need to say; it is priceless in my eyes and in my heart. The bracelet is 0,3 mm wide. Happy MM !! HMM !!

And thank you so much for your comments /favs and support! I’m humbled and grateful!!! I wish you all an amazing day and see you on Flickr!!

It's the only way to fly.

Scafell Pikes in the distance seen from the Calbecks

The sky was so clear, the water so calm .... Unfortunately I could not move to the left. This is the best perspective that was possible to get. I was close to the edge.

Great weekend you all!

Bealach na Bà is a winding, single track road through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula, in Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands. The historic mountain pass is engineered similarly to roads through the great mountain passes in the Alps, with very tight hairpin bends that switch back and forth up the hillside and gradients that approach 20%. It boasts the steepest ascent of any road climb in the UK, rising from sea level at Applecross to 626 metres (2,054 ft), and is the third highest road in Scotland.

Two hardy souls settle down for a picnic

with bokeh. We're enjoying the day off of school by watching Christmas specials on TV, baking brownies and generally being lazy :-)
