Large on black canvas | My favorite shots
Location: Along a fishing-lake at Haren-Ems (Emsland) Germany.
Description: Taken this morning while I was driving somewhere near the city Haren, when I noticed a large (sport-fishing) lake on the right side of the road. Initially I wanted to take some shots of this lake together with these thick cloud formation. But when I looked at the right side along this lake, I noticed these streamlined sky that seemed like a vein of heaven. So, I mounted the camera on my Manfrotto, made some shots, with different f-stops, from a low-angled position. When I got home, I was really surprised about how the sky eventually turned out: it was exactly what I had in mind, but it wasn't quite noticeable on spot with the relatively little LCD-display and bright low-angled morning sunlight.
Exposure: 3 brackets of -2 Ev, +/-0 Ev and +2 Ev at f/8, securely mounted on a Manfrotto 190.
Technique: HDR Tone Mapping & PS color and contrast enhancements.

Batad Rice Terraces, Banaue, Cordillera Administrative Region, Philippines. It took a day's hike to get there, but it was worth the trouble when you got this late afternoon view of the village.

This image was taken at Bandon Beach, Oregon. The large rock on the left is called Wizard's Hat in reference to the hat in the Harry Potter Movies.
Most people go to the beach for sunsets, but don't forget the early morning. This shot was taken as the sun reached the rocks about 1-1.5 hours after sunrise.

I was challenged again.
Serge has so many great pictures in his photostream. Check him out.
If Serge will agree, I would love to include this in my HDR UNLEASHED book. The process I did here was in my opinion, really cool.
i HOPE U LIKE IT.

Last light along the river Brathay near Elterwater in the lake dsitrict national park, Cumbria, England.
This view is simply a detail of the bell turrett of the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione (= Church of Saint Mary of the Consolation), in Rome. As the shadows of the evening were gathering upon the Eternal City, I was trying to capture the last crumbs of light in the western sky - beyond the gentle slope of the Palatine Hill, beyond the heavy plumbeous clouds. It was like looking out of a tunnel. See also my Hanging over the edge of time.
I have tried hard to clone out a wire line across the image a little over the turret, but I am uncertain of the result of my efforts... comments about this matter will be warmly welcome (I hope to improve this retouching)!

Today is the start of the Muslim festivities of Aidil Fitri and to commemorate this auspicious occassion, I'm showing a very rare scene where you could capture it almost any day but the angle of the sunlight and the position where it was taken was quite unique. Taken from a rooftop of a 33 floors building.

Ok, I'm a bit excited with the recent work I've done, so I interrupt last summer photos for more actual ones.
About perigean spring tides on Wikipedia:
A perigean spring tide is when the moon is closest to the Earth during the spring tide. The moon's orbit around the Earth is elliptical which causes the moon to be closer to the Earth and farther away at different times.
The moon and the sun are aligned every two weeks which result in spring tides; tides that are 20% higher than normal. During the period of the new Moon, the Moon and Sun are on the same side of the Earth so that the high tides or bulges produced independently by each reinforce each other.
Tides of maximum height and depression produced during this period are known as spring tide. Even higher than a normal spring tide are the perigean tides. Perigean Spring tides can produce unusually intense flooding along the coastal regions.
Low amplitude tides are known as neap tides.
