Top down with seed-stitch stripes, thumb gusset, and i-cord bindoff. No pattern, I just knit 'em. They are nubbly and wooly and I like them quite a bit.

Another shot from my early morning trip to Holme Moss moor. Although the light was 'warm' it seemed bitterly cold in the strong wind. The grasses were moving so much I elected to up the ISO to 4000 for this shot.

For my partner in the Goodie Bag swap. I designed it all myself with no pattern and added some handstitching along the seam lines. Curved gusset bottom, curved gusseted exterior zipper pockets. Interior zip pocket and 2 slip pockets. It can be carried like a tote or like a folder-over purse and has 2 diffferent handle options that are attached with gate rings. One is an adjustable cross-body style, the other is a shorter shoulder strap.

I really hope you like it partner! I stalked you for a long time and think that the fabrics and design will work good for you (I hope).

This was actually finished on Friday, I'm just getting to post it this late on Sunday. Sorry!! It's in the mail!

The neogothic design of the pilgrimage church reached its peak by the contribution of Friedrich Stummel from Münster, working in Berlin at the time. At the end of the 19th century he and his artists took over the responsibility for the colourful painting of the edifice and the design of the windows, which lasted well into the 20th century.

The artwork created by Stummel and his students in glowing colours focuses on the importance of Mary in God´s doctrine of salvation. Therefore the position of Mary as well as the biblical and clerical statements on it are the central subjects.

Corresponding to the given architecture, all cupola ceilings, pillars and gussets, window embrasures, columns and responds, chapiters and bases in the eastern half of the basilica are covered with decorative paintings representing the highest of art and craftsmanship. The single accounts in their course always refer to the culmination, the coronation of Mary in the choir apse.

I was a bit hesitant to start this, because in my mind, I hadn't quite worked out the thumb gusset yet. I went slowly, charting as I knit, trying to remember knitters who are not me will need to follow this, so it had to be easy to read and follow, and um, understand.

I love this chevron pattern, it's definitely a fav, but dang is it hard to increase and decrease AND keep the whole thing in pattern.

The yarn here is Nature Spun Sport, by Brown Sheep. It's incredibly pleasant, and comes in a million colors. I have it in mind to kit these up with this yarn, nothing definite yet, but stand by.

Michael is forever telling me that I give away too much, too soon photo-wise, and that I should slow down a bit and let anticipation build. Frankly, it seems to me that after all the pics I’ve already posted, displaying just about every square inch of yours truly there is to show, there really can’t be all that much anticipation to build! However, just to satisfy husband Michael, I’ll hold off for the moment on the rest of this series, and post just a couple of small snippets from a picture to come!

I made the 5,6,7,8 and 9 inch bowls. I had to remake the 6 inch bowl after a gusset cutting issue, but at lease that was the simplest patchwork! I hope you like pattern! I might cry when I pack up the 8 inch bowl... I used Robert Kaufman Chambray for all of the outside of all of the baskets and assorted prints from my stash for the linings.

These gorgeous huge fruit grow in a big tree outside our window and drop every night like bombs on the grass, so the landlady doesn't even need a ladder to pick them. Her paradise garden also produces organic olives and figs sufficient for her and for AirBnB gussets like us :)

I don't even know if I should post this......I may delete it I don't know!!!!

I've owned a Polaroid Camera since last year but never got round to buying the flim for it! Eventually had the chance this morning after buying some at the weekend to take a few shots and by eck it's not easy! I looked a gink in most of them and it's made me appreciate digital soooo much more. However, I'm absolutely loving the effect of polaroid. A few other shots this morning included pouring milk over myself (in the shower of course)......it did not come out as expected and after four attempts I gave up cos film is not the cheapest to buy!

I've had the shittiest weekend EVER! I've felt really ill, and incidents on Friday night resulting in me giving a statement to the police made me feel very sad even though the nice Mr Policeman wanted to double check my DOB cos he didn't think I was THAT OLD lol! Anyway all is ok and I sometimes think I should have been a counsellor instead of a photographer.

Oh and this was the most awkward and uncomfortable positions hence the title!

Here we are, my mother wearing an Australian army hat at the height of bushland chic, on the top of Mount Jerrabomberra, closer to Canberra. In my hand is a butterfly net, machined by my mother to my father’s exacting specification, its gusset carefully stitched, the net deep enough that it can be folded over the frame, so that the trapped butterfly can be examined without any battering of the wings. Perhaps there were swallowtails, their wings mottled with gum-leaf green. I do not remember.

How do I feel when I learn for my exam? Looks like gusset in my thoughts

And one more to go! I thought the gusset was going to kick my butt, but it was the top decreases that drove me nuts. I knit and ripped them about 4 times before I got the decreases and patterning to work for me. The thumb was cake.

Now I can write the pattern, and knit the second to make sure it makes sense, then it will be ready to be test knit. Look for Pattern/Kit release by the end of the month!

Hi Partner! I have struggled and toiled, and since I haven't posted any previews at all, and you have been left in the dark, I decided to take a different approach. I have posted pictures of three separate, very different pouches. You get to choose two! If you don't pick, I'll pick for you! Easy enough, right?

A variation of Mélisande's Pochette. The gusset is "inside out": the bottom is creased to a point and tucked under, then the side flaps are tucked under. It is very firm.

From Suzuko Koseki's Patchwork Style.

I added the "gusset" at the bottom so the bag would sit flat.

I love the body that the batting and quilting give this bag. And. ...it is big enough to fit all my stuff.

I'll definitely make it again!

For Halloween this year, Mitch and Ro went as themselves! From the early 19th century, when Mitchell was a sailor and Ronan ran a lushery he'd inherited from his father in a small port town in Ireland. Ro had a temper, Mitch couldn't hold his alcohol, and much hilarity ensued.

Mitchell's shirt is period accurate, and that means LOTS OF GATHERS EVERYWHERE and the horror of GUSSETS. He has them in his underarm seams and then I gave up. I also made his neckerchief and all his jewelry, but I ran out of time to make pants so these are borrowed from his Sadol suit. I'm so pleased he finally has an appropriate outfit to wear with his fabulous curls!

Both of these gentlemen, pictured at Ballinasloe horse fair, are wearing dealers boots. These originated as a riding boot in Victorian times and are tight-fitting, ankle-high boots, the most notable feature of which is the elastic siding, running from just above the welt to the top of the shoe. The elastic gusset it seems was invented by Sparks-Hall, bootmaker to Queen Victoria. They were much in vogue until the onset of World War 1. They made something of a come-back in the 1960s and (called Chelsea boots) were considered an element of the 1960s mod scene. I can tell you that these are not two aging mods however because for some strange reason, in Ireland at least, cattle dealers, and, from this shot horse dealers too, traditionally wore them. They always had to be tan ones, again why this should be so I have no idea. As often as not they would also wear a tan or brown trousers too. There was a time when they would also wear a brown coat, sometimes even a shop-coat, when going through the fair. It was, I suppose, a type of dealer’s uniform. Obviously the Dealer Boot tradition continues, and, I’m told you can still buy them in certain long established shoe-shops in certain areas if you know where to go. Needless (or is it surprising?) to say they can be bought on-line too!

I bought this dress several years ago and had to split the cuff to get it over her hands but it fits. I will try to put a little gusset under the sleeve.

How do these silky sheer to waist opaque tights look from behind? Would love to know! xxo

The artist is quoted in the Tribune saying he wants people to "easily come close and actually touch" the statue.

This has the same inset zipper as the Inset Zip Clutch pattern and then the same gusset bottom as the strap clutch.

It can be folded over and carried as a clutch, or left unfolded and used as a big pouch. Either way I love it.

The inside is the same green as the velvet ribbon zip pull dangling along the left side. The button is just for fun.

When folded it measures 10.5" wide x 6" high x 2.75" deep.
