Gulfshores, Alabama

December 2008

Interestingness: #149.

I used 3 exposures for this hdr shot of the sand dune fences.

Lefty, the one-eyed gator, lies just feet from this sign, just waiting for some fool to disregard the sign and feed her.

Let's hope it doesn't happen, because as everyone knows, it leads to no good.

The forest in Gulf Shores, Alabama has suffered a horrible hurricane and more recently a fire, but it is stronger than the forces attacking it and continues to flourish.

Another interesting moon capture

I was up waaaay earlier than I normally get up to catch the morning light on the beach.

I really didn't do anything to this shot other than adding the border. What you see is what I saw.

I liked the contrast between the prickly shrub and the smooth sand and aged fence.

My back to the sunrise

After a sunset the night before with scattered clouds Dawn shows the same sky

There is such a feeling of peace on the beach in those few moments right before the sun rises. It is my favorite time. Much more so than when the sun actually does rise.

Sunset 1/1/10 at Gulf Shores, Alabama

I hope everyone will enjoy this first Saturday of 2010...I certainly enjoyed last evening...the beach wore a lovely sunset glow, and the night was full of gorgeous moonglow, which you'll see in my next series...such a magical night! : )

I didn't crop these to better fit Flickr's size format...the horizon deserves its full scope...so Large view really takes you there!!!

See that house in the left corner? One of the next pictures will "center" this house and explain more about it. Depending on how you are viewing these pics. I am panning to the left (or right) taking pictures as I turn.

And don't forget to click on the smaller pics to view the entire caption

Sunset along the Alabama Gulf Coast.

I got some sharp pictures of this Great Blue Heron, but I preferred this blurry version. (No surprise if you know me well). :-)

Seemed he wanted people to scare the fish over to him. Saw him following fishermen around too.
