"How can those who do not garden, who have no lot in the great fraternity of those who watch the changing year as it affects the earth and its growth, how can they keep warm their hearts in winter" (Francis King)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Turimetta growing a nice green. What a great place!

This is an old image, from spring 2016. Some of you may remember it from my old account. It was in full color. I've added a bit of artistic touch here, which emphasizes the newly-grown red leaves.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

♥ Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Seize the week!

New growth can be a great photographic subject, especially so when the forms and textures are as fascinating as they are in new fronds emerging on a sago palm. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/6.3, 1/100 sec., ISO 1000, shade, handheld)

rings, emergence of time, of space, time circling back on itself, space in crevices, nooks and crannies, unsmooth surface of the universe, pits and grooves, dark matter, black holes, old growth.

Hey guys, I'm learning! I glued these pieces of paper to a piece of fabric instead of my face. Way less painful, who would've thought.

Oh and I only burnt my face once with the hot glue.

Mainly inspired by a human's growth in personality, and how much we can change by the little things we do everyday.

It's fascinating.

There is a story to this photo. Some of you may notice that this was taken with a Canon! No, that does not mean I switched from Nikon to Canon ;) As it is, when I was visiting Moritz for a day last week, I saw those lovely mushrooms in the forest we were shooting in and I wanted to do above photo with them. At first I wanted him to sit somewhere and have them grow out of this arm but that didn't look good because the background was too similar in color. So we decided to take them with us and try in his studio room at home. When we finally got round to do that we had about 15 minutes until I had to leave for my train home to Munich... then my camera didn't trigger Moritz' lights and we realized it must be the different flash connecting points at the top of the camera. So being lovely and all, he let me use his camera and then sent me the RAW files :) So thank you Moritz, so sweet of you!!! (Also thank you for patiently holding out your hand until I was done ;))

Also thank you for Barbara, Manuel, Cierra, Sarah Ann, A. J., Eva and Nicholas for their opinion and advice on that photo :) I was torn between one with highlights and this one but I like this one a tad more.

Every one of us has the potential of greatness, waiting to be developed.

“Passion is passion. It's the excitement between the tedious spaces, and it doesn't matter where it's directed...It can be coins or sports or politics or horses or music or faith...the saddest people I've ever met in life are the ones who don't care deeply about anything at all.”

Nicholas Sparks, Dear John

Day 27

September 13, 2012

Shot with Katherine yesterday!

My first photograph in a long, long time.

And wow, it felt good to be out again. I felt the autumn cold creeping up my back, the wind playing with my hair and the motivation scintillating within me. It feels as if I've been saving up energy to create for a while now. Today it felt like it came growing out of a void and became something beautiful.

Series: A look inside

New growth on a tiny Fir tree that emerged from the ground only last season.

Eos6D - ISO800 - 1/40sec - EF24-70mm F4L IS USM @ f/11 & 70mm

A rather simple shot today as I'm feeling a little brain-dead at the moment. I watched the memorial services for Jack Layton today on TV and while i feel saddened at the loss of a great man, I feel inspired to keep being a better person and to help change the world for the better.

Tomorrow I'm setting off on a solo cycling trip, nothing major just a 4 day, 500km jaunt around the interior mountains of British Columbia. It should be fun and I'm looking forward to the alone time to clear my scattered brain. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to post tomorrow so if I don't, you'll see me on either Wednesday or Thursday :)

Green to me represents new growth. And so this represents me. Each day that I wake up I am growing into a more independent person. I am learning and by learning I am becoming more aware of me.

I realize that my life didn't end when my marriage did. I learned that I can manage and get along just fine. Yes there are days when I am blue, but you know the blues don't last all that long.

The separation in this piece represents the separation in my life, but at the bottom there is a joining which means that I may be separated from one part of my life but that a new path is ahead of me and it's filled with light.

This may sound weird but I'm looking forward to finding out where this new road will take me.

I've faced a lot of difficulties and I've overcome so many obstacles and each time I've recovered it made me stronger.

I have also learned that I really like myself. I don't mind being alone. It gives me time to be creative, to listen to a book and it takes away a lot of guilt. Guilt for not having dinner ready on time, guilt for not doing the laundry. I'm my own boss and I do things now because I want to, not because I have to.

Come on world I'm ready for you, I sure hope you're ready for me.

I cannot even begin to describe this past year and my love for all of you

I turned 20 yesterday. Its so surreal to think how much time changes things or how things change with time. I have changed so much as an artist and as a person. I have so many people to thank for being there for me this past year and supporting me. You all inspire me, and have helped shape who I am today. I really cannot ask for more wonderful friends. My family of course has been there for me from the beginning and continues to support me in everything I do. I wish you all a wonderful start to your new year.

I am having a Print Giveaway on my Facebook Page in spirit of a new year and for thanks :)

"A Misadventure" part 3 of 4

Part 3 in a series of photos that depicts the journey through an alternate world where misfortunate events happen.

I'll be posting images every day from this series.

I was interested in the kind of curvature the dead roots of this tree base represents. A little ironic that it had been chopped off above, but below there's this lively, fluid shape.
