gegetti: Thanks so much, @learningtobeastonished ! This is arguably the most beautiful monumental cemetery in Italy.

gegetti: @learningtobeastonished It's Genoa main cemetery, in Staglieno borough. It's definitely worth a visit, if you're travelling in northern Italy (take a look at the pics on the web)

gegetti: #talking_statues This is "Monumento Soria" by Ettore Nenci (1929), in Venice San Michele graveyard, an incredible "isle of the dead" surrounded by water. It was commissioned by the husband of Anna Maria Soria, who died giving birth to her son.

gegetti: #talking_statues Angel of Grief is an 1894 sculpture by William Wetmore Story which serves as the grave stone of the artist and his wife at the Protestant Cemetery, Rome. The term is now used to describe multiple grave stones throughout the world erected in the style of the Story stone. (Courtesy of Wikipedia). Lots of copies are scattered all over the world, especially in the USA.

spearlschwartz: So beautiful and interesting history!
