The best time to see wildlife in summer is when it's wet outside. The rain and snow forces wildlife to come down the mountain. So on the day that it was foggy all day, with some rain from time to time, we went to Parc Ela.
No other people there, and a lot of wildlife. For example, we counted 128 deer. And later on we encountered this chamois. At first it did not run away from us. It danced around instead. Really bizar.

This marmot fooled me quite good. He was on the lookout and I tried to get closer. Then he disappeared under ground. Normally you sit down on the ground and wait. They eventually come back. But this one didn't. It turned out he ran to another spot underground and he was watching me all this time, 50 metres to my right.

Visiting my hometown Schuders in the Swiss Alps was fun. One day we drove into the mountains on a dirt road towards the Austrian border. There are three alpine dairies. We stopped at the first one called Schuderser Alp. The farmer showed us a friendly cow. The girlfriend of my son was all excited to pet the cow.
I processed an enhanced and a smooth HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves to pop the scene.

La Re4/4.642 è appena ripartita da St.Moritz al traino di un Interegio per Chur diretto verso l'Albula. Nella foto la incontriamo fra i pascoli appena al di fuori di Celerina mentre corre fra l'Engadina e la valle del Bernina visibile sullo sfondo. (24/6/15)
The RhB Ge4/4.642 has just left Celerina heading an Interegio train to Chur along the Albula line. The train is running just in front of the Berninapass valley where another RhB train, this time from Tirano, is reaching the other station of the village on the Pontresina-St.Moritz branch. The Abbey of Saint John (German: Benediktinerinnenkloster St. Johann) is an ancient Benedictine monastery in the Swiss village of Müstair, in the Canton of Graubünden. By reason of its exceptionally well-preserved heritage of Carolingian art, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

We are now back to normal internet connectivity, I'll post more photos of this Europe trip over the coming weeks.
This is Chur, the capital of Graubünden (Grisons), the largest and easternmost canton of Switzerland. I took this shot in the late afternoon against the sun from the Kantonsschule, the high school I attended eons ago. The town has a well preserved historical downtown.
Home sweet home for two reasons:
1. We are just back home in the Silicon Valley after a 2 weeks vacation in Europe.
2. I went to school in this city.
I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves to pop the scene.
