A new piece created as a private commission for a friend from high school who is really into the game/sport of geocaching. From the Geocaching.com website it is defined as, "a high tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices." So that was my theme to tackle for this piece. Sounds like a cool activity! I'll have to try it at some point... I've also posted a detailed "step-by-step" process of sorts if you go back and take a look at my previous posts or just simply check out the set that I've created for this piece. As always, you can hit "All Sizes" for a more detailed view. Thanks for taking a look!

What a fun and frustrating challenge! I went to 8 different sites altogether, and only found two caches. They are very well hidden! The top picture is of a bridge where I was unsuccessful. But I met a wonderful family who was also searching for the cache, and had a nice visit with them. It’s under the bridge somewhere, and I wasn’t going to try it, so watched them for awhile. They had 3 children and an agile husband who couldn’t find it, so I moved on. The first evening I went to 4 different spots and found nothing. But then I figured out that I could read the activity logs and get clues. So the next morning I went out again, and found the one in the bottom pictures. But I must confess that the only reason I found it was because someone posted a picture in the activity log. I signed the log and left a small toy for the next finder. I forgot to take a picture of the larger area where I found it. I also went to another location where I looked for 15 minutes at a lift station, knowing that the cache was stuck to it somewhere with a magnet, but had no luck. After going home and thinking about it, I realized what I should be looking for. It also helped to read the hint. So I went back that evening and found it right away. The picture is in the comments. See if you can find it.
Thank you, administraters. for a great challenge! It got me out and about and I discovered some really nice spaces in my town’s park system.

Week #24 ~ Geocaching
First time trying this activity and it was good fun - thanks to Damien for suggesting it!
When I logged on to the Geocaching site there was one cache which caught my eye - GC43. This was the first geocache in Europe and as it was near my home, I had to find it! The original was placed in 2000 and was replaced in 2003. The 2003 cache has been on the go continuously since then. We used GPS coordinates and photos from previous finders to narrow down the location. Plus there was a well worn path to the final destination. Thanks to my hubby for his help.

This creation shows one of my favorite hobbies, geocaching. The geocache is the 1x1 round stud on the bottom of the bench in picture 3.

Whenever we're out anywhere my wife partakes of the dark art of geocaching . For those of you unfamiliar with this practice it's basically treasure hunting using GPS , except you don't keep the treasure just register that you've found it on the geocaching website and sign the log inside the cache . The secret is not to let muggles see you doing it ! There's over 2 million geocaches secreted around the world ( in fact , you're probably not too far from one right now !) .
