From my archives when I last visited the region of Formagenz I managed to get some photos of the unique digital gardens and vines growing in purple food for these plants. They are from the ancient Demofalie group of oxygen producing lifeforms.

You could probably spend half a day strolling the meticulously manicured Gardens of Versailles. Numerous fountains, canals, ponds, statuary, hedges, and paths offer a constantly changing scene. The sky in the picture tells why we only spent 15 minutes there...a strong storm moved through and sent the tourists (us) back to the palace for cover.

The picture is looking toward the Pyramid fountain, with the Dragon Fountain and Fountain of Neptune in the distance.

I discovered this beautiful spider living in a corner of the arboretum garden this fall and came back often to check on her. It was a sad day when I looked for her and she wasn't there.

It was @ World's End Garden_

The garden is happy today.

one of the oddest things about this property is this little fenced garden -- it's down behind the ancient trailer, beautifully fenced and gated and organized inside, but completely overgrown with weeds and grasses, of course -- and absolutely zero access to water. sophie and i liked to walk down there now and then just to look around...

moving day #1 is tomorrow!

Japanese Gardens are such a tranquil, contemplative place to visit. Much of our lives are very hectic, hurried and frenetic. These gardens remind me of how wonderful simplicity can be.

The Garden Bridge (Chinese name: 外白渡桥 waibaiduqiao) is the oldest and most famous bridge in downtown Shanghai. Completed in 1907, it crosses Suzhou Creek from the Huangpu to the Hongkou district. Length 106.7m. View large on a black background.

In the right background is another Shanghai landmark, Broadway Mansions, a 19 floor art-deco building completed in 1935.

At night this scenery puts the visitor right into mid-1930ties Shanghai. See where this picture was taken. [?]

With the exception of the tulips, all flowers were cut using the very tiniest gum-paste flower-cutters.

All flowers except for the tulips and daffodils are from hard-boiled egg white. Orange tulips and daffodil centers are hand-cut from carrots; red tulips are hand-cut from red pepper. Daffodil petals and the wings of the butterfly are yellow squash.

The leaves are cut from pea pods and took the most time of anything...I'm pretty sick of cutting pea pods right now.

The body and antennae of the butterfly are also made from the stringy parts of snow pea pods.

Butterfly Garden, Busch Gardens, Tampa

Duranta erecta, commonly called Sky Flower

This is a very showy shrub with pretty blue flowers that attract butterflies and bright golden berries that are relished by songbirds - both often present on the plant at the same time. Golden dewdrop is recommended as a nectar plant in subtropical butterfly gardens. Individual plants may sprawl, but it is not invasive.

Warning

The attractive fruits are poisonous to humans. Do not use this shrub in childrens' play areas.

Gardens by the Bay (Chinese: 滨海湾花园) consists of three distinct waterfront gardens – Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central, set in the heart of Singapore’s new downtown Marina Bay, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir.

Spanning 101 hectares, Gardens by the Bay is an integral part of a strategy by the Singapore government to transform Singapore from a ‘Garden City’ to a ‘City in a Garden’. The stated aim is to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.

First announced to the public by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during the National Day Rally in August 2005, Gardens by the Bay is intended to become Singapore’s premier urban outdoor recreation space, and a national icon.

An international competition for the design of the master plan, held in January 2006, attracted more than 70 entries submitted by 170 firms from 24 countries. Two firms – Grant Associates and Gustafson Porter – were eventually awarded the master plan design for the Bay South and Bay East Gardens respectively.

The Gardens are being developed in phases. Bay South is currently being constructed and is slated to be completed and opened on 29 Jun 2012. Bay East has been developed as an interim park in support of the Youth Olympic Games 2010, and is opened to the public since Nov 2011, allowing an alternate access to the Marina Barrage. The full master plan implementation of Bay East and the development of Bay Central are part of the next phase of development.

A still life of peaches and flowers.

The morning that I put this still life together I was doing some experimenting with settings and lighting. In fact, I had just came in from deadheading in the garden and saved some of the Bee Balm flowers for the composition. It's fun to try new things. You just never know what you might get.

Dorothy Clive Gardens

The garden’s initial creation lay in Colonel Harry Clive’s wartime decision of 1940, to provide his ailing wife - Dorothy - with a ‘series of interesting walks’ as she battled with Parkinson’s disease. The gardens are maintained today by a trust in her memory and are very beautiful

...the garden I left to live at our condo so that we could help more freely with Glenn's needs; it's only a few blocks from here, so I still feel attached - and Glenn did love it so...

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. [C.S. Lewis]

Mayfield Garden near Oberon began to take shape in the mid-1990′s and today is one of the world’s largest privately owned cool climate gardens. Owned by the Hawkins family, Mayfield Garden extends across more than 160 acres (64H) and sits within a 5,000acre working farm.

Famous Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California. High liife of the 1920's.

from Wikipedia:

"Filoli was built between 1915 and 1917 for William Bowers Bourn II, owner of one of California's richest gold mines and president of Spring Valley Water Company, supplying San Francisco's water,[1] and his wife, Agnes Moody Bourn.

In 1910 they had bought an estate in County Kerry, Ireland, but wanted a country place nearer home.[2] The principal designer, San Francisco architect Willis Polk, used a free Georgian style that incorporated the tiled roofs characteristic of California.[3]

Polk had previously designed Bourn's houses in Grass Valley and on Webster Street in San Francisco. Polk's friend Bruce Porter was commissioned to collaborate with the Bourns in planning the gardens, which were laid out between 1917 and 1922. The horticulturist who designed the plantings and fixed the original color schemes was Isabella Worn; she supervised the garden's maintenance for 35 years.[4]"

I was practicing manual focus (not sure why I decided to do that in low light) and I snapped this shot of the garden at dusk.

It was a hot summer day, when I was exploring the peaceful depths of the Montreal Botanical Garden. I was walking around enjoying the nature scenery and listening to The Beatles. It was a nice calm experience. This HDR photograph was taken in the Chinese Garden.
