Longwood Gardens’ new Meadow Garden spans 86-acres and has three miles of walking/hiking paths.
With a cool breeze and the warm sun shining, the bees buzzing and the color-drenched views, it was pure enchantment for the senses—indescribable with words and even photos. Not that I won’t try (with both!)...just a couple of quick posts for now...
Dried hydrangeas spill over an antique vase, accenting the items in front of them. The bird's nest speaks of sweet life in the garden, with the old rusted iron bird recalling the original nest dwellers. Vintage clay marbles peek out of the nest and nostalgia is called forth by the different colors. A peaceful still life!
Well manicured garden shrubbery of the Keswick Military Barracks seen beyond wall of the Adelaide Showgrounds train station.
There were lots of different butterflies flitting around in the Children's Garden at Dauset Trails. One of those species were the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. I chased several of them around snapping shots like crazy, finally got a nice profile.
Needless to say, there will be more photos. Just saying.

Yu Garden, Shanghai, China
Yuyuan Garden is a famous classical garden located in Anren Jie, Shanghai. It was finished in 1577 by a government officer of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) named Pan Yunduan. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying, and this garden was specially built for Pan's parents as a place for them to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.
In the 400 years of existence, Yuyuan Garden had undergone many changes. During the late Ming Dynasty, it became very dilapidated with the decline of Pan's family. In 1760, some rich merchants bought it and spent more than 20 years reconstructing the buildings. During the Opium War of the 19th century, it was severely damaged. The garden you see today is the result of a five year restoration project which began in 1956. It was open to the public in September, 1961.

Sending you some winter warmth and memories of my neighbor/friend Sabina's home grown eggplant and purple bell peppers. My neighbors and I plant crops different from each other so we all have a little something different to share because at the end of the day, you'll never finish what you grow and why would you need more of the same from their garden??
This photo was shot through two fences the day we both cut down the last of our tomato vines and cleared the beds out for planting mums and sowing seeds that we hope will winter over nicely.. since we live in a mostly urban area, we don't want to have to hunt down our favorite veggie plants again next spring~
HFF all!

We should not mind so small a flower -
Except it quiet bring
Our little garden that we lost
Back to the Lawn again.
Non baderemmo a un così piccolo fiore -
Se discreto non portasse
Il piccolo giardino perduto
Di nuovo al nostro Prato.
Emily Dickinson (1859)
Well, maybe not all are "visitors" as such to our suburban Macclesfield garden. I mean the plants are perennials, the fox cub is definitely resident but the blackbird has been known to fly away between raiding the raisins. (It sits just opposite the kitchen door and does its best to attract our attention.)
I had been attempting to capture a visiting bird further down the garden when I noticed this little cameo being played out.
This is a detail shot of a spiderweb which was found in our garden first thing in the morning. After a night of very heavy rain, the delicate threads sparkled with tiny droplets of water, and reminded me of strings of pearls.

The late afternoon sun was shining on these lily pads. Some water critters were stirring the water just slightly on this tranquil Autumn day.

I'd like to dedicate this picture to my nifty mate blindone. He's the sweetest, funniest man, but is going through a rough time.
Blindone, I thought I'd share my garden with you - I was amused by our light hanging from the Yucca plant! Take care and chat soon! :~}
