Never realized I was a pioneer in a new genre: #solarpunk refuses to accept that the future must somehow be grim. Published back in 2004, when people were more apt to debate whether #climatechange was real than to imagine steps toward #climateaction , Legacy was the spark that brought into being the Environmental Change-Makers community group in Los Angeles 12 years ago. The Change-Makers built the #gardenathn , the Emerson Avenue #communitygarden , a #community #cob oven, and brought the international Transition movement (based on #permaculture ) to Southern California. Now working on my next "solarpunk" novel. New one is about the crosshairs of economy, environment and grassroots action. Because there is plenty that we can do. #sustainability via Instagram
Last week we had a swarm of #bees linger in our #communitygarden They stayed for a few days and then went on their way. We were happy to host them -- we put up caution tape to protect them and to warn visitors. We are ok with them finding their new home because we already have an existing feral hive on the property ... Inside the church steeple! #gardenatHN via Instagram
