A bit of colour for a change. This is an Elizabethan-style 'knot garden' in a fortified manor house in the middle of my parent's village. The village church is right next to it.

...but not your typical garden. This is Land Farm, carved out of a Yorkshire moorland valley, high in the Pennines above Hebden Bridge where even grass can struggle to survive. I think it's one of Britains best and is at its finest right now. I'm a bit biased as the owner was a former teacher of mine!
Japanese Tea Garden at Raymond Blancs Le Manoir Hotel in Oxfordshire. 5 Exposures from -2 to +2, Canon 5D Mark iii, Aperture F5.6, ISO 100. The -2 Exposure was brightened and then brought back into Photoshop after Photomatix to brush back in some leaves that were not moving as it was windy that day! The Japanese Garden was the first stop during my recent trip the the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Luckily the foot traffic was light so I only had to wait a few minutes for the bridge and surrounding area to be free of people. It wasn't' my intention but I pushed the post processing a bit and ended up with a painting-like picture. It seems to work for this scene though.

Picture was taken be Mr Digital at Beth Chatto's Garden of a vista
Beth Chatto OBE is an award-winning plantswoman. Her work here at the Gardens began in 1960. She took an overgrown wasteland of brambles, parched gravel and boggy ditches, transforming it using plants adapted by nature to thrive in different conditions. An inspirational, informal garden has developed. Beth continues to oversee the development of the Gardens, and works closely with her team which include Garden and Nursery Director, David Ward, and Head Gardener Åsa Gregers-Warg. The Gardens remain a family-run business, managed by Beth's granddaughter, Julia Boulton.

I just had to invest in some HDR software, and this is my first attempt. It shows my garden on a stormy summer's evening.
I took a few picture of Ana Sanchez Maritn's garden in London last May, when it was open for charity. And now it will be shown in Alan Titchmarsh's new series of 'Love your Garden' on July 22nd on ITV at 8pm. Her design was chosen to show how to design a narrow, long city garden. Welcome all with access to British TV :)

Pavillion in the corner of the garden at the Elizabethan period Montacute House in Somerset, England. The pavillion is a grade I listed building on its own merits as well as is the main house.
The north-east and south-east corners of the garden court are both marked by a two-storey, square-plan pavilion surmounted by an ogee roof and obelisk finials.
