Portland Japanese Garden, Portland Oregon.
I had fun visiting with Mike Jones on his Pacific Northwest Tour last week.
Lan Su Chinese Garden in Porland is a tranquil little spot right in the heart of the city. This is a 5x6 HDR panorama, processed at CloudHDR and stitched with Hugin.
Powerscourt Estate - Dublin, Ireland
This estate was used as one of the locations in the excellent movie The Count of Monte Cristo and many other movies too. Coincidentally, one scene in the movie was filmed at this exact spot. :)

This is a 2 shot stitched pano of the Japanese Garden at the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle. Zeiss 28mm
I have taken quite a few shots against the greens of summer and have been very unhappy with the results. It’s so hard to compete with the textures of grass and foliage. I decided to try doing a silhouette using the summer greens as the back drop and I finally got something I like.
This shot was taken at the Garden House at Buckland Monochoram. I thought i'd upload a bit of colour.
Chinese Garden of Friendship, Darling Harbour, Sydney (wiki)
The pagoda on the right has more levels but I just cropped as there were Sydney city's high-rise buildings at the background.
It was a rainy day. Not many visitors.
The light was pretty good for a late summer image of the Coronation gardens in Waddington in Lancashire. Created - not surprisingly - for the Coronation of Elizabeth II, they are a beautiful addition to an already picturesque village.
Taken over Waddington Brook, and looking towards the Country Kitchen cafe. usually always busy.
Pukeiti offers a range of garden walks from 45 minutes to two hours. This includes the Rhododendron Stroll (45 minutes), Valley of the Giants Walk (60 minutes), and the Puke Te Whiti Trail (two hours).
Pukeiti lies halfway between Mt Taranaki and the coast, in environmental conditions that are ideal for growing rhododendrons.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?” - Douglas Adams
The heavenly falls captures the beauty of the three elements of a japanese garden-stone- water and plants.
...but not your typical garden. This is Land Farm, carved out of a Yorkshire moorland valley, high in the Pennines above Hebden Bridge where even grass can struggle to survive. I think it's one of Britains best and is at its finest right now. I'm a bit biased as the owner was a former teacher of mine!
