Pacific white-fronted geese after taking off from the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge on their spring migration to the northern reaches of Alaska and Canada. Currently two populations of white-fronted geese are recognized: the Pacific Population and the Mid-Continent Population. Numbers of Pacific Population white-fronted geese have increased steadily over the last decade.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Morning everyone, here is something to spice up our mornings:) A magic sunset, this time I took my woman with me.....she knew it was going to be something but when she saw this, she was stoked!

You are so high up in alttitude, that you feel like you are loosing the sun........well I suppose some of my nicest images are nights shots, therefore you gain other things...:)

:)

I've been gaining one good thing through losing another. I know the meaning of sunshine after storm.

And I am too. The knee is getting better, I can now walk on it, though I still use the brace and only one crutch. Working on it. Tomorrow starts physical therapy. That should be fun. These waves were gaining strength on this day, so I thought that it fit me as well. Soon, I shall be back down on the beaches tracking gulls and catching waves.

A majestic view of Mount Nandadevi and Mount Betartholi on the trek to Kuari in Garhwal Himalayas, India

Never saw one of these things, pretty amazing how after 33 years roaming the sphere there are still a lot, if not most, of attractions that I have not yet experienced.

I dont like it so much, but well, I kind of just want to dont see it around anymore in the to do folder.

Why people should obtain something that is useful or think will give them an advantage since life is not easy although we try to be simply ...I always so wonder many matters:))

In an unknown to many people but conspicuous due to its location church, we usually find peace of mind and tranquility. We communicate our deepest feelings to ourselves and try to nest our prayers and silence as much as we can to look for signs, listen to whispers that reassure us that we are walking the right path.

Putting the old EMDs to good use, CN 6013 and company have gained roughly about 900 feet in elevation since leaving Lake Superior and Two Harbors behind about 12 miles ago.

CN 6013, IC 6256, DMIR 406, and IC 6253 head up train U792 into Lauren, MN with 144 empties for Minorca Mine on the June 4, 2017. The four EMDs are off most of the grade and have the ore cars up to track speed.

This spot, just south of Highland, used to a favorite evening spot for me to shoot Missabe trains on the Iron Range Division. The piles of gravel that you used to be able to climb to gain elevation are long gone, but EMD 645s and 24 foot ore cars still rumble through woods after all these years.

Besides gaining elevation out of Two Harbors, the train has gained a nice evening to run through. The temperature here at Boomers Road was a pleasant 75 degrees when this U792 passed. When the 6013 started out of Two Harbors, under the cover of lake fog, it was 30 degrees cooler.

A faschinating little shop by this name, found along George Street, along my driving route to work.

I haven't actually been inside yet, just stopped to shoot its title mural along the side of the building.

Rough-legged Hawk (Buteo lagopus) - Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia

A rough-legged hawk in flight gains altitude after a brief stop on the ground. This hawk was hunting diligently that day. Where the wind had died down, it hunted less like a harrier more like a red-shoulder hawk. Waiting on the top of a tree or telephone pole, and then gliding in quietly for the kill.
