Autumn reflections of Mt Moran from Oxbow Bend. Another test photo taken with my Nikon F100 camera a last year. This was the first roll of film I pushed thru the used F100 I got shortly before this trip. I think you are supposed to test your equipment before you leave. Anyway, love the camera, not too sure about the Superia Reala film. I Sure missed seeing this kind of a view this year.

The lens I used for this shot was the first one Nikon marketed for an autofocus SLR - the infamous and ill-fated F3AF. The lens was another "first" in that it was Nikon's first lens with internal fcousing. It is one of Nikon's best kept secrets that in AF mode it works perfectly on a F4 camera (in MF mode it can be used with any manual focusing Nikon camera). It should not be used on other autofocus models since it will drain the battery within an instant. The AF Nikkor 2.8/80mm is a superb lens which produces wonderfully sharp images.

Browsing through old hard discs and files can be fun. Recently I recovered a set of photos I took back in 2007 when the city of Cologne was crowded by participants of the Nationwide Protestant Church Gathering (Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag). Not being a participant myself I was fascinated by the friendly atmosphere. Everybody was enjoying themselves, and there was singing, dancing, playing, worshipping, preaching and playfulness all over the place. It was a very colourful event which I photographed after work.

Joining in the gathering was a sailing boat with the name "Roland von Bremen". It is a close copy of a ship from the 14th century of which remnants have been found in 1962. The parts were successfully preserved and can be seen in a museum. The "Roland von Bremen" has two (virtually identical) sisters. Unfortunately it was ill-fated: In January 2014 the "Roland" sank due to a defect. Since this happenend in the haven of Bremen the ship could be saved. Currently it is awaiting repair.
