Frost, It doesn't last long ... it's beauty is so temporary ... but OH the beauty! As the sun kisses the little flake it it has a moment to shine forth all of it's beauty ... and then it's gone.

Just a few hours with this misty frost. I just wish I had been able to take many more pics.
I was struck by the contrast with the green verges.
This shot is the colour version of frost [b&w].
Processing on this: a slight crop, frame and signature.

Frost is the solid deposition of water vapor from humid air. It is formed when the temperature of a solid surface is below the freezing point of water and also below the frost point
Sometimes accidents pay off..... due to accidents on the 401 this afternoon, I decided to take back-roads back from Barrie. The weather was 'blech' and even though there was a wonderful frost on everything I just wasn't very motivated to pull over..... until the sun popped out for a brief second lighting up the only tree on top of a hill at a snowed in golf course.... I scrambled and got off about 3 decent shots before the sun decided to go back into the clouds.

A wintry morning with frost on the trees and bushes.
Sunday we had a high of -3C but today it's +12C. Crazy.
Not a brilliant morning for a red sunrise with no clouds about, so decided to capture the morning frost at Himley Hall near Dudley.
For some reason it looks like a double sun in the tree.
Even in times of Global warming, Ireland is having one of the coldest Winters in over 50 years, with tempreatures of -15 in places. Proir to this really cold spell, we had flooding all over Ireland. Now lots or roads are impassable with ice and packed snow. The council's have gritted and salted the main routes,but there is ice and frost on country roads for the past 3 weeks.
"Black are my steps on silver sod;
Thick blows my frosty breath abroad;
And tree and house, and hill and lake,
Are frosted like a wedding cake."
