I always swore I'd never take photographs of harbours, fishing boats and the like. No doubt they are interesting things to stand around and gawp at, but as a photographic subject they are just a teeny bit clichéd. Indeed, over the years I have developed an aversion to photographs of quayside impedimenta and trawler-related artefacts that is almost as strong as my distaste for snaps of colourful fruit and veg on the stalls of street markets in those parts of the Mediterranean where English people like to take their holidays. But in so briney and barnacle-encrusted a place as Mallaig what can the visiting lensman do but get down with his bad self and click away at the lobster pots and fish crates along with everybody else?
This is one of DH's t-shirts. I noticed how frayed it's getting and, of course, it feels wonderful now that its days are numbered; soft.
