The indestructible Frank Chu, as seen in the Financial District, San Francisco.

The indefatigable, ineffable and generously amiable Frank Chu.

Through all the changes this city has been through he's remained one of San Francisco's beloved eccentrics, and seeing him still shuffling around with his nonsensical sign gives me hope that San Francscio will always be weird. Frank is our modern-day incarnation of Emperor Norton - he's welcome wherever he goes, and just watching him go you see all sorts of people stopping to ask after him and check that he's doing OK.

And yes, before you ask - Frank is the one that inspires my photo titles.

As seen at the J-Pop summit Festival, Japantown, San Francisco.

Today at lunch this crazy butt naked pirate was running around Market St. He didn't really seem to be a viral marketing thing or anything, he was just running around yelling at everyone and talking all pirate crazy like.

As luck would have it, while he was doing his thing at the corner of Market and 1st, who comes sauntering across the street? None other than his excellency Frank Chu himself. Frank agreed to pose for a photo with the pirate and the pirate kept yammering on in pirate talk about 12 Galaxies the whole time.

Closing out the year with a San Francisco icon.

Taken 12/4/14

Thanks to Ben for the photo! Frank didn't bat an eye. Nothing fazes Frank.

I love it: the winner of the Hunky Jesus contest with Frank Chu in the background.

Day of the Dead San Francisco 2012

I ran into Frank Chu on the way to work this morning, I'd never seen him out so early before. I stopped and talked with him while taking his photo and he gave me the usual story. He's going to the UN in 2013 to unveil the evil of the 12 galaxies, impeach Bill Clinton and get paid for being a movie star.

Mayor consults banana republican while chief explains policy to leading citizen.

Frank Chu at the Brides of March. He let me hold his sign again (that's another pic)

Hugo Kobayashi has turned this photo into a wonderful painting:

It wouldn't be a party without Frank. he didn't say which team he supports

Another Frank Chu sighting on Powell Street.

San Francisco, CA

My caption at the time was "Still pretty stoked that I got to meet him. And his sign kept me from getting lost!" but now we're on a mostly first name basis.

Totally decapitated his sign though.

2015 APRIL FOOL'S DAY in SAN FRANCISCO is celebrated with the annual ST. STUPID's DAY PARADE which starts out at JUSTIN HERMANN PLAZA and snakes its way through the Financial District. Absolute F-U-N !

The parade goes to the SOCK EXCHANGE (Pacific Stock Exchange) where socks were exchanged and thrown in the air!

The ST STUPID'S DAY PARADE then went to 101 CALIFORNIA...where it was lunch hour and the marchers shouted to the businesspersons...GO BACK TO WORK!

...and of course, the PARADE would not be complete without a visit to the cold black BANKER'S HEART in front of BANK OF AMERICA where folks tossed pennies at the black marble 'sculpture'.

OH the faces of the tourists and the businesspersons who didn't have the slightest idea of WHAT THE HELL was going on. Though many, to their credit, got into the fun & smiled, and whipped out their cameras for the copious photo ops.

A very ONLY IN SAN FRANCISCO event!

The VIEW COUNT is SEVENTY-SEVEN MILLION VIEWS (77,000,000+ VIEWS ).
