British Transport Police Ford Transit at Piccadilly station Manchester for Saturdays 'demonsatrations'
In October, 1989, twenty Bayline liveried Ford Transits made a lengthy train journey from Exeter to Perth where Stagecoach would use them as competitive tools. They went in two batches. On 2nd October, 657 (C657 FFJ) leads the pack. These were the days before Health & Safety and I stood on the track to take this shot - nor was I wearing Hi Viz.
Taken at Minster seafront, I saw this old Ford Transit mini bus parked on the shingle by another van. Couldn't not take the shot having noticed the vans decorative bodywork and front and the tandem bicycle. Nikon FE, Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 Ai red Hoya filter on Fomapan 100 Classic, pushed two stops and developed in Kodak D76.

Tiverton Friday 17th April 2009
This is one of few Transits which are in the Stagecoach Devon Engineering Department. This vehicle is based at Barnstaple.
It is seen here at Tiverton due to 17735 seen behind, suffering with an electrical fault. As I left the bus station 17735 departed a couple minutes behind schedule on the 155.
First time I have ever seen the lights come on this!
Saw this Transit in Sandbach in 2002. Before I could get a front view, they drove off (totally inconsiderate!)

A very nice Ford Transit Sport with Avon and Somerset police being used as a Collision investigation unit. There are two of these vehicles and the pair will replace three S-MAXs which are currently being used by Collision Investigation. This van will be based at the North Somerset Roads Policing unit in Weston.
I am hoping to get down to the base before the S-MAXs go as i only have a rubbish photo of one with a Met CIU vehicle at the start of my photo stream.
See below for the sister vehicle WU12 DKD

Long before the minibus revolution of the mid-80s London Transport dabbled with some Ford Transits. Under pressure from the Greater London Council LT very reluctantly started four minibus routes in 1972. The truth is they were services that should have been introduced decades earlier - and had it been an organisation more competent and less arrogant that LT they damn well would have been! It is obvious now that the four routes concerned were sure-fire winners. LT prefered to stick their heads in the sand and make people walk instead. All the routes proved to be instant hits and quickly had to be converted - firstly to Bristol LHSs then LHs. They are still running now - at greatly enhanced frequencies and using much larger buses.
This is the first journey of the P4 (Brockley Rise to Brixton) in1972 - standing at Brockley Rise. The service now runs through to Lewisham and every 12 mins (compared to 30 in 1972) and using dual-door Dennis Darts (which are usually packed).

The basis for this photo is a rusty headlight from an old Ford Transit. Then it's mixed with various software and some imagination :-)

A site which is possibly best remembered from the days when it was thronging with trolleybuses!
Haven't been here since this picture was taken but I understand it's all been swept away.

A very nice Avon and Somerset police Collision Investigation unit. There are two of these Transit Sports with the unit and another Ford S-Max (WU12 DKE, WU12 DKD and WX58 HCE.)
These vehicles are lush and are both based at the RPU base in the town i live in. In addition to the three vehicles i've already mentioned they also have a Peugeot Boxer.
