Corrugated Metal Roof, Northumberland County, Ontario

I forgot about this shot I took last December in Bellingham Washington. This was on my top step into my truck and I found it there when I woke up after spending the night next to Bellingham Cold Storage. Loved the paleness of the leaf and contrast between it and my step. My camera is set to Central Time, and the actual time was Pacific Time, so two hours earlier. Just in case anyone thinks I make a habit of sleeping in late.

I was poking around in the backyard this morning, walking through the dew and looking for a simple shot that really showed off the morning light in the summer garden while we still have it.

I wasn't loving the macros today (I know, weird) so I popped back into the house and dug this thing out of storage. It was a last minute thought that hardly registered at first but man am I glad it crossed my mind.

After a quick rotation in PhotoShop; this photo popped and I feel like I've managed to capture a nice little bubble to hold the last of these summer days.

Hope you have had a great day.

Flickr says it won’t delete Creative Commons photos.

I don't want to license my stuff as Creative Commons, but the most restrictive license is a pretty decent choice, Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs. I could still (very occasionally) make money on my flickr photos for commercial purposes. Someday if I am no longer willing or able to pay for flickr, I probably would do that. I just can't imagine 86% of my photos disappearing from the internet.

Better than nothing!!! But the world is still going to loose a massive amount of photographic artwork with this purge. I am already seeing missing flickr images on iNaturalist.

For a Cognac enthusiast this is heaven.

Thank you Laurent!

'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Bread'

Believe it or not this does satisfy the 3" rule !

This is the cut end of a triangular multi-seed 'roll' bought from our local CO-OP store. The small slices of bread are small, just about 1½ inches in size. The tomato is just ¾ inch across and comes from a miniature growing in a trough outside our diner window!

It is said that Blue Spruce pine needles are/were used by Navajo and Keres Pueblo Native Americans. They made infusions to treat colds and upset stomachs. It is reported that these spruce pine needle infusions were also applied externally for joint pain. Meanwhile, the local Pine Squirrels are active gathering these cones for winter storage in impressive piles called middens.

Mason Jars seem to be a rare item in my house; they're so handy that they get used up almost immediately and I'm left searching for another on what seems like a weekly basis.

With them being so trendy, the cost of the jars have gone up, making kitchen storage a little more expensive.

I guess I'll just have to stalk the dollar stores and hope they get them back in stock!

Otherwise, not too impressed with this recipe, but I'll post it, even though I wouldn't recommend it.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cup of flour

¼ teaspoon of baking soda

½ teaspoon of baking powder

½ teaspoon of salt

½ cup of sugar

½ teaspoon of vanilla

½ can of sweetened condensed milk

⅓ cup of milk

1 beaten egg

⅓ cup of melted butter

1 tablespoon of cocoa powder

Directions:

01. Preheat oven to 325. Grease a loaf pan with nonstick spray or parchment paper.

02. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar together in a medium bowl.

03. Add the vanilla, sweetened condensed milk, milk, egg, and melted butter. Stir until just combined.

04. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, reserving about ½ cup of the batter.

05. Mix the cocoa powder with the remaining ½ cup batter and stir until combined.

06. Pour the chocolate batter over the regular batter and marble with the tip of a knife. (I failed at this part, but I doubt that changes the taste)

07. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the loaf comes out clean.

Hopefully the taste is better for you; I had to keep mine in the oven an extra 10 minutes and I think that messed with the consistency.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

****This frame was chosen on June 18th 2015 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE (Highest Ranking: #179. This is my 72nd photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful to everyone who visited, favourite and commented on the frame*****

For the Re-ment Addicts group: I couldn't post all of the photos to the group, so I just posted this one. I posted all of the individual set photos in my photostream.

I bought two supermarket sets, because I knew that I could use the produce and meat in the supermarket. I also ordered a couple of singles of #1 and one of the meat sets because #1 has honest to goodness green peppers! I was considering painting some of my red/orange/yellow peppers because I have a ton of them, but couldn't ever find Re-ment green pepper sets. At the price I can buy a separate set, I may have to buy a few of them.

I also bought a couple extras from the Momoya's Stylish Recipe set because I have this thing about having more than one plate. ;) I'm still waiting on the extra sets.

Inspired by the delicious Carrot & Coriander soup I enjoyed on my recent visit to Tintern Abbey tearooms (the chef explained the recipe to me) I attempted my own version. Very nice it was too. For 117 pictures in 2017 #85 A bite to eat.

I can't find a photo to upload for 12th May so I am one short on my 365 project this year. I know for a fact that I did take a photo on the 12th of May (I always make sure to take at least one photo every day for my "One photo a day group") but I can't locate it. I've checked my recycling bin on the laptop & it's not there so it must have been on my old iPhone which has no storage space left. So it's been deleted in error to free up space before I uploaded it to Flickr. I clear the deleted photos folder every couple of days so there is no way of retrieving it now.

Anyone who knows me will understand how frustrated I am at this error. I could have just cheated & changed the date & said nothing, who'd be any the wiser apart from me? This oversight has made the decision for me that this will be my last year of daily photos (my 3rd year). It gets quite all consuming having to take a photo every day. I may still run the group for 2018 but I probably won't be participating.

The best details in this set are the opening pill (or bead) container and the storage box. The little yellow insert comes out.

The former Rontoy hacienda: This part of the hacienda is comprised of virtually abandoned hacienda buildings, including a 5- or 6-room home, a big sorting and storage building, living quarters for the workers, a small store, and an old abandoned chapel. The hacienda was originally built in the 1500s. I think it was given to the farmers during the agrarian reform in the 1960s.

Co-op owners continue to work the land, farming corn, sugar cane, and some cotton. We were surprised to once again find one of the owners drying maize at the front of the old cotton sorting building. An old man was keeping an eye on it. Turns out the maize belonged to his daughter so he was guarding it. He had come up from his home a good day's bus drive away.

Kettle goulash over the open fire on the tripod.

Based on various invitations from Hungarian neighbors to a "Pincepörkölt" at their "bor haz" (wine house), I developed on the basis of the ingredients seen a recipe of my own and have often made such a "Kesselgulasch" by myself .. better than the Hungarians themselves ; )

Because beware: if you order goulash in Hungary, then you get served a watery soup. What you see here in the cauldron is called "Pörkölt".

Who wants to imitate this, can receive my recipe from me. The whole production of the kettle goulash takes but then several hours .. but that's not necessarily something bad, Fast Food's you get elsewhere.

I was tagged by Leslie and Bob of NY to show my shelves and storage. I have shown these shelves before but they always change. These white plastic drawers hold Blythe and Licca clothes. Blythe dresses are hanging on a scrapbook thing. Above are just dolls and more dolls. It's almost embarrassing!

Whenever we get our dining room table leaves out of storage, we polish them up to eliminate dust and fingerprints before inserting the leaves into the table.
