The remaining fall foliage puts on one last fiery show along the face of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western Virginia on the first weekend in November. I took this shot on my first trip to Sky Meadows State Park, which is a pretty great area with a nice selection of hiking trails that meet up with the Appalachian Trail along the top of the mountains.

I had no internet connection today. But the lights in the kitchen work now.

Best in the light box.

Happy Fence Friday !!!

I wonder what those tiny fruits (?) on the stems are ?

An old photo that got a second chance

The hay wagons are parked for the winter on the back hill. I happened to look up there and saw the late sun hitting those October oaks, and ran to get my camera. [Of course those oaks are bare now].

Many of the leaves have fallen and the ferns and plants have now turned to fantastic shades of orange, red, and yellow.

Maine has some of the best foliage in the Northeast . On the not so perfect weather days a trip on the North Woods dirt roads can be colorful place to spend some time.

More old iPhone photos that I'm re-editing / re-organizing.

Grand Teton National Park provides endless opportunity to capture the beauty of nature in it's finest colors.

In North America, autumn is usually considered to start with the September equinox.

Sun shining through some some beech leaves.

The red leaves against the blue sky almost hurt my eyes.

Taken during a walk around the parking lot of the Melville Marriott, Long Island, New York.

At some point I will try to work out exactly which sort of non-native conifer this is, be it a Lawsonia or a Leylandii or suchlike, but the main point was that it made a nice macro.

Edit: I think it is a Lawsonia, Lawson Cypress.
