iPhone 3GS. I kinda promised myself I'd go easy on the processing and create simpler images...so, this happened.

Backstory:
I gathered my iPhone, tripod, and remote shutter one evening and went outside to the patio. It had rained earlier, during the day, and the skies remained clouded. I twirled, twisted, and moved about the small space until I had captured several frames.
I rarely have a specific pose or plan. I rather let the artful moments guide me. This insures the results are as much of a surprise to me as they are to the observer.

This is an older image that was taken and processed with the iPhone5. I am currently enjoying a 90-day free trial of Corel Painter X3. The flower brush is my new favorite. I hope everyone is walking among a fabric of flowers and much peacefulness. xo
Taken and processed (mostly) with an iPhone. I have used three different applications to crop, cross-process and apply zoom blur, and afterwards just a touch of photoshop to clear the right side of the image from being blurry. You can see unprocessed, uncropped original in the comments. HSS, everyone!

It starts with a not so new suitcase which shouts to me from a window display at the local vintage shop. I'm driving down Main Street. It's raining. I see it. I hear it. I want it. I circle back around the block, park the car, and make a dash for the door. Closed. What? How could this be? It's 10:30 am on a Friday. The locked door proves it is true. I slide over and take a closer look through the glass. It's the one. I dart back to the door and take a moment to read the store hours. Relief pours over me much like the rain. Friday 12-5pm. There is hope, smiling. I run errands and return precisely at noon. I'm in. The shop is charming. The clerk smiles. She knows. Her first sale of the day is imminent. I am sure of it. Surprisingly, a second suitcase peeks from under a musty pile of magazines and half a stack of silk scarves. This one needs me more than the shouting one. I have no choice. It happens. I leave with not one but two suitcases.
And this is how the creative process works for me. Moments after arriving home, I scramble to set up the tripod and connect the remote shutter to the iPhone. Click, click, and click. A storytelling image reveals proof that inspiration comes in all shapes, sizes, and more often than not when we least expect.

Backstory:
I wanted to create a storytelling image. After deciding to use a neutral background, I gathered a white sheet, iPhone, tripod, and remote shutter. I've been using the garage for a makeshift studio, as of late. I made a couple of trips in and out of the space, until I had all the goodies strategically placed. I found a black dress, in the closet, and thought it felt right. I slipped into it, peeled off my socks, and made the last trip to the garage. This creative gathering is all part of the process.
I twirled, jumped, and did it again and again, until I was laughing at the thought of all this play in order to fulfill the want to create. After I finished my edits, I considered a title. 'Be You' seemed to perfectly envelope the image. Yes, I expressed much energy and effort into my creative process. It matters. It is important. It is me. I hope the image encourages you to be you. Being yourself, is gifting all of us with a magical uniqueness that is intended to be shared.

Backstory:
Places Within Reach reflects the interim between my professional work and creative pleasure. Though I spend much time working out of necessity, it is the spiritual reward from the creative life that fuels me.
After a long day at the pharmacy, I always have the need to reach into the creative world of photography and editing images in order to relax. Last night was no different. I am appreciative of the iPhone technology and the availability of the myriad apps. I am more appreciative of the sharing of each other's love of photography. The sharing is just another of the many ways that photography brings such tender emotions to our lives. Photography brings us together and that is unifying in all the right ways. xo
