That we find a poppy beautiful means that we are less alone, that we are more deeply inserted into existence than the course of a single life would lead us to believe. (John Berger)

I was setting up to take some sunset shots of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands in San Francisco, California when I noticed a pretty cool scene was unfolding behind me. The only problem was that I was getting some serious sun flare which is usually something I tried to avoid. To me it’s like a dust spot and I despise dust spots. However, in this case I thought it looked kind of cool so I left it in. Like a waiter at Chotchkie’s, sometimes you got to just embrace the flare.

Went to another lighting workshop today at the excellent TMA Studio in Birmingham. Used more advanced techniques this time using multiple light sources. Another great day out!

Very little PP in this shot, used my 1980's 50mm Minolta for this.

Been a while since I posted one of these, just over a year in fact. I was a bit lazy last winter to go out borealis hunting but think that´ll change this winter, we´ll see. Taken up in Bláfjöll during a trip with my buddy Indriði.

This is a snapshot from my last photowalk which turned out to look pretty cool due to the Pentacon's flare. I hope you like it!

Just having a little fun tonight! Happy flare friday everyone. It's been quite a week!

Shot this just south of the city, when the temps were so low.

While taking photographs of the Aurora Borealis, we saw a bright flare produced by an Iridium satellite. The flare lasted only a few seconds.

This image was taken in the village of Ersfjordbotn, on the island of Kvaloya in the municipality of Tromso in Troms county, Northern Norway.

Happy New Year and thank you for your comments.

Originally a commission for an album cover, got paid, but it was never used.

One half of the original had good flare, so I duplicated it and created a mirror image.

Crazy flares going on here, and they're all legit.

After work my friend and I chased the sunset around a golf course, trying to capture the sun. It was beautiful.

I headed to the pond knowing that the steam would be perfect and the ducks would be icy. Both were true and I lasted about 20 minutes bundled up in much more than just feathers.

This awesome flare was created by a Canon 5D...nope, not mine. Cara Rose met up with me at the hill and let me pose for a few selfies while she pulled the trigger with her sweet camera. Thank you Cara!

HMAM!

I love the flare in this shot. Dottie got a great one of this when she was here this summer. I drive by this numerous times a day and think of Dottie taking that picture every time.

I like the colors and forms here. I didn't see the flare while I was taking the shot. Might have appeared during the long exposure.
