Looking in through the glass of an aquarium, this shy fish was trying to hide from my camera. Apr 19, 2015 L1250019.dng
Clownfish or anemonefish are fishes from the subfamily Amphiprioninae in the family Pomacentridae. Thirty species are recognized, one in the genus Premnas, while the remaining are in the genus Amphiprion. In the wild, they all form symbiotic mutualisms with sea anemones. Depending on species, Clownfish are overall yellow, orange, or a reddish or blackish color, and many show white bars or patches. The largest can reach a length of 18 centimetres (7.1 in), while the smallest barely can reach 10 centimetres (3.9 in)
they became popular in the disney movie "finding nemo"

Of the wet variety. I can't even remember for sure where I took this one, much less what kind of fish it is. Senile I guess......

Good morning. I know, it's not Friday, yet there be fish today. Sorry about that, but I've got so many fish photos to share that occasionally I need to do so more than one day a week. Besides, what could be more appropriate than to follow yesterday's postings of butterflies with a butterfly-fish :-)
Today's postings are of Pearlscale Butterfly fish (Chaetodon xanthurus), which naturally can be found in the Indo Pacific oceans, Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. Butterfly fish get their name from their behavior of fluttering around the reef. These fish typically have rather round and thin bodies. They are very colorful and some have extended snouts which they use to reach worms entrenched in the reef. They can grow up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length.
Thank you for visiting...and I hope you have a truly great day.
