it's cool riding on the ferry this time of year. you can get shots like this. i think we only had like, 4 cars on here.
This ferry boat takes tourists and residents of Cachoeira Dourada de Minas to Cachoeira Dourada de Goiás, which are two small tourist towns located on the banks of the Rio Paranaíba, which divides the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás! Every car with up to 5 people costs about $ 15 dollars and people walking pays about $ 2 U.S. dollars each and operates from 06:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day!

.. from the archives so I can take a break. I added a gull to it to help me accept it. The little ferry is beautifully maintained and I always spend some time watching it.
There's a short ferry ride (20 mins) when going between Denmark and Sweden at Öresund. The stern up top did have quite a nice design.
A ferry used to run between here, Point Fosdick directly across the narrows, and Gig Harbor. It temporarily stopped running when the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge opened in 1940. The bridge collapsed less than six months later and ferries were rushed back into service the next day. The original terminal had already been partially dismantled by that time so the service had to run from Point Defiance unti the terminal was rebuilt. Because of World War II, the bridge wasn't rebuilt until 1950. The ferry hasn't run since then.

The Ferry terminal at the rear of the Clarion Hotel. The Clarion is on the far right of shot and appears out of focus, well it could be but actually its down to the exterior design graduated Black and white spots. There is a very slight pink haze, the result of the next photo, it a museum glowing pink (out of shot)

Forest fires are raging in British Columbia, Canada. Where I live, 200 miles (300 km) to the south, this is the effect on my neighborhood. The smoke is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
On a normal day, you can see Seattle 20 miles in the distance. Today, you can barely see the passing ferry 1/2 mile away.
Very unhealthy. Not good.
I don't usually create photos for documentary purposes. This is an exception. I don't consider it a particularly good photo, but it reflects my reality these past couple of weeks.
The ferries cross the Long Island Sound daily connecting Connecticut and New York, one such crossing on a frosty day.

This is the Steilacoom Ferry headed out to Anderson and McNeil Islands. We have had some wonderful evenings and sunsets here this fall.
