De lange oorpluimen helpen de lynx om de richting van het geluid te traceren.
De lynx kwam vroeger in bijna alle grote bosgebieden in Europa en een groot deel van Azië voor. Door de jacht en verdrijving uit hun leefgebied zijn deze katten met hun kenmerkende oorpluimen tegenwoordig vrij zeldzaam geworden.
Ze leven vooral nog in afgelegen bergstreken met wat kreupelhout. In enkele bossen in West-Europa zijn opnieuw lynxen uitgezet. In Nederland is vooralsnog niet voldoende aaneengesloten bos voor een herintroductie. "WNF"

Het hoogovencomplex werd in 1902 door de "Rheinische Stahlwerke zu Meiderich bei Ruhrort" gebouwd, en werd later overgenomen door de Thyssen-groep. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog raakte het zwaar beschadigd, maar het werd in de jaren 50 weer opgebouwd. In 1985 waren de hoogovens van het complex te klein geworden om nog rendabel te zijn, en werd het complex gesloten. Tussen 1991 en 2002 werd het terrein als openbaar park ingericht.

a photo that is verey dear to me and lots of my colleagues who worked on the attic of the former building of the city srchives of Delft. We are now in a super modern building which is very good for the archive but we so miss this place.
My place was behind this window, so this was my view over the roofs of the city archives, the Hoogheemraadschap and the Prinsenhof.
And yes, the window was all but clean :-)
