The Woodland Kingfisher (Halcyon senegalensis) is a small bird with stunningly, very bright blue feathers on its back, wing panels and tail, with black shoulders and a white belly.
This beautiful bird is an intra-African migrant and is most commonly found in Acacia thornveld.
Contrary to their names, the Woodland kingfisher don’t actually fish for their food, it prefers to hunt its prey from low tree branches by swooping down to catch insects on the ground.

My husband and me in front of the Mdina Glass Christmas Tree in Valletta, Malta.
The Christmas tree, for those of you interested in numbers, is a 7 metre tall Christmas tree made of over 2,000 glass baubles, ranging in size from 5 to 33 cm in diameter. Putting the tree together takes 8 people 2 days!

Since I've posted some photos showing you how this place really looks, I thought I might go all out and edit this one - because it is a view just begging for it!
This is the ruins of the Château Mennechet - began around 1880 by the wealthy Alphonse Mennechet de Barival, a collector of fine arts, who wanted a place to show his belongings. When he died in 1903 (aged 90) the place wasn't finished and his collection donated to the town Saint-Quentin. It would seem that the château was never properly finished, and it got damaged both in the first and the second world war. After the bombardments of the last war, the château was completely abandoned and it was plans for tearing the place down. But in 2008 the ruins were cleared by new owners and even though you can't visit the place (it's a private property) you can get a good view of it from the street below.
