Petra (from πέτρα "petra", rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Butrā) is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. It is renowned for its rock-cut architecture.

The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was discovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. It was famously described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate prize-winning sonnet by John William Burgon. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage." In 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site. It is one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" as determined by the New Open World Corporation (not affiliated with UNESCO).

As it was not my first visit to this place I wanted to capture bit more unusual scene that would remind us of 'Indiana Jones and the last crusade'... or simply ancient times, however Petra is very touristic place and I had to wait for long time to capture such a timeless scene.

Sorry if I don't reply to everyone personally, I do my best if time permits it.

Link astride his crimson lofting. Taken from the Zelda game Skyward Sword.

This is another entry for our Iron Builder round against Tyler (Legohaulic) and Michaela (Littlehaulic)! The seed part is the yellow sloped curve piece, unfortunately you can't really see the two 1x1 modified bricks used in his belly...

This is also another preview for our Zelda collaborative commission with Faron! Check out his uploads here: www.flickr.com/photos/92744506@N03/

This is an entry for our Iron Builder round against Tyler (Legohaulic) and Michaela (Littlehaulic)! The seed part is the yellow sloped curve piece used for the bottom part of the beak. This was mainly made to compliment Link's Loftwing, which uses the piece much more.

To visit Petra during daylight is an awe-inspiring experience, to experience it at night by the light of 1,800 candles is truly an out-of-this-world experience! Walk through the Siq to the Khazneh following a candle-lit path and enjoy the haunting music of the Bedouin at the Treasury. Tours start at 8.30pm and finish at 10.00pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Petra Site Office at the entrance to the site. It was only my third visit to Petra that I had chance to experience it. The show is only 3 times a week, not every night. First time I visied Petra I had no idea there is something like this. Last year I was there at "wrong" day, so this time I made sure I wont miss it. It was absolutely magical !
