Of all the shots of this waterfall that I have, this is probably my personal favorite so far.
Another rainy fall day in the Gorge at Multnomah Falls. There were other people on the bridge and I just waited till this one person with the umbrella walked into the right spot and bam, I fired off several shots and they were gone. Lucky, I guess!
Processing was minimal on this.
Cropped a little off the top and a little off the bottom to bring more of the focus to the person on the bridge framed by the golden leaves.
Dupe layer, Gaussian Blur at about 20pix, blend mode softlight, opacity 50%, very simple to give it that dreamy misty Oregon rainy day feel even though it was raining!!!!

This fall view is a bit lighter in real life than on my screen this morning - but the bright colors are definitely what I see around me. Fall color - is just about at its peak in piedmont North Carolina.
Our trip yesterday went beautifully well - a gloriously warm day, beautiful colors, historic buildings, jaw-dropping, unique trees to marvel and purchase, a terrific lunch --- really a nice way to end the tour season just as our temps change to winter-chilly and rain.
I'll be off line for several days...and will catch up as I can ...
Hope your weekend is filled with sun and color!!

Fall colors and reflections at the Kankakee River.
On a wet, rainy day, I took a bunch of pictures along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The leaves were ready to fall and the colors were saturated. Nothing beats the beauty of fall. (All Rights Reserved)

Fall colors from Treetops Resort, Gaylord, Michigan
Since it is snowing here in Montana today, I thought I had better upload my fall colors photo before it was out of season! I drove over to Grand Teton National Park planning to stay the night to get sunset and sunrise, but got called away for monther-in-law duties. Sigh.
Fall colors over Clifford Lake, Gaylord, Michigan
I think the moose have it right: Willow flats at Jackson Lake in the Tetons is a great place to hang out in the fall.
The trade show yesterday was terrific - more foliage being shown than flowers.. but some wonderful new varieties of shrubs and trees that will make our landscapes even more beautful.
I painted this as a practice for a wet in wet landscape using large washes to give an impression of that incredible fall abundance.
Right now, the multitudes of leaves once brilliant in color are brown and pieced, buried under ice, snow and mud, and doing what they do at their life's end - replenish the soil as compost and enrich the next generation of leaves, twigs, and flowers.
But aren't we lucky as artists and photographers? We can capture those magic moments of time ... and replenish our memories with them --- over and over ...
Have a great day!

A picture I took of the famous abandoned Crystal Mill outside of Crystal and Marble Colorado during peak fall color after an overnight snowstorm.
I took this photo in a park in Lankwitz, Berlin. I love these warm colors. I think there is a peaceful mood within this picture.
I was walking around the upper part of Bishop Canyon just below Sabrina I saw a gaggle of photographers shooting this pond. I believe it was a photo tour group as several folks were going to one individual for advice. The water was completely still with good reflections so like a moth attracted to the light I joined them shooting this pond. In hindsight I think being around so many folks affected the way I shot. Not wanting to be rude I tended to rush my composing. So now back home most of the images really are throw aways unless I do some creative cropping.
This one is the exception because the center white Aspen trunk extends into the pond and provides the viewer a focus point. The thing that drew me down in the first place, the reflection in the still water, did not disappoint.

This is personally one of my favorite shots of the Fall Colors on the Eastern Slope of the Moffat Route. Seen here, two Union Pacific GE ES44AC's bring up the rear of this Energy Mine, CO bound coal empty as they head west into the Moffat Tunnel.
“Fall colors are funny. They’re so bright and intense and beautiful. It’s like nature is trying to fill you up with color, to saturate you so you can stockpile it before winter turns everything muted and dreary.”

A post processed version of fall colors at Metlako Falls! I wish I could get much closer to this amazing falls!
