Camera Nikon D5000 Exposure 283.3 seconds Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 18 mm ISO 200 NOTE; These images are just an experiment to calculate the long exposure times for future photos with rural settings, in rivers, lake, etc! Many tanks ..
Thanks for visiting, kind comments and favorites and Have a great weekeend, my friends! -/- NOTE: The reflections were due to small luminaire lighting the right side of the picture!
PLEASE, DO NOT INVITATION TO GROUPS
I was keen to try and come away with something different from my trip to Skomer, and inspired by the art work of Andreas Lie, I wanted to try and capture a similar effect in camera.
This is the best of this first experiment - an in-camera multiple exposure composed of two frames captured sequentially. My intention was to fill the bold shape of the bird with the texture of the surrounding environment, in this case daisies.
Not going to be to everyone's tastes but I quite like the end result, though I can immediately see where I want to improve this image, so notes for future attempts I guess.

Trying the "paint-with-flashlight" technique for the long exposure challenge this week. Not original, but fun anyway. 30 second exposure.

Taken some time ago - it was quite a productive outing - the colours and light were intense and really helped the colour pop!
Burwood Beach is just south of Merewether Beach, NSW; Australia.
Taken in bright sunlight and this exposure only possible by using my Lee Big Stopper filter.
Hope you like it - thanks in advance for any comments, views or favorites for this or any of my other images - much appreciated!!

Taken on a wintery, but sunny day in Brighton
High up on the Gritstone Trail in the Staffordshire Moorlands, the rain storm enveloped the rocky outcrop. Trying to find shelter amongst the rocks was impossible - it would be only a matter of time before we died of exposure......luckily the car was parked about 100metres down the hill side so we made a mad dash for it and survived to tell the tale......

Pentre Ifan is a burial chamber with a huge capstone delicately poised on three uprights. Once known as Arthurs' Quoit, Pentre Ifan means Ivan's Village. This monument, dating back to about 3500 BC and unusually oriented north-south, stands on the slopes of a ridge commanding extensive views over the Nevern Valley. The elegant capstone weighs over 16 tons; it is 5m (16ft 6in) long and 2.4m (8ft) off the ground. The stones of the chamber are all of local igneous rock; on the portal stone there is a faint decorative cupmark.
One of the three photos I'll be exhibiting next week at the Exposure Dallas show. I feel very privileged to be part of this gallery exhibit with seven other superb Dallas area photographers who met via the magic of Flickr.
This framed version was created with fd's Flickr Toys. The image on display is going to be 16 x 20 and framed similarly to this in black.
This particular image was one of my first HDR images and has been around the globe solely because of Flickr....including being featured on the front page of an Israeli newspaper and within the pages of Popular Photography magazine.
You just never know who might be checking out your photos here and where your stuff may end up being showcased because someone "found" the image on Flickr....
Long exposure of a pier and a piece of rope in the city of Manaus on the banks of the Amazon river.
2 minute exposure
I tried out my blinking dog..... very hard to catch a dog not moving for 3 shots - the HDR version was awful, but the exposure blending turned out really nicely. If you take a look in large the detail her eye is my living room. Also took this with my 50mm 1.4 - still playing with this. I am running late I have been painting all day today - but promise to catch up with everyone today!

This shot was taken from Granite Island looking back to Victor Harbour in South Australia. I am not sure about this shot I feel its a bit cramped, but I liked the bridge and clouds so I cropped out as much of the rocks as I could. Tried a square comp too but the sky lost impact so I am going with this.
South Australia is such a picturesque place I cant wait to go back and explore its diverse countryside. This little Island is covered with these awesome orange fungus covered rocks and there were so many photo opportunities here. Unfortunately my battery light was flashing at me and some idiot left his fully charged spare at the unit in Adelaide. Needless to say there was some colourful language being mumbled for the rest of the morning and was limited to short exposures DOH !!!!
Last day of the D3000. Did a small experiment of long exposure with few of my friends. Guy's night out with no dress for success code. Apparently the idea was the exposure in two positions. Not the most total success, but not bad either.
A 12 second exposure test. I went and did the full print at 15 seconds, guesstimating. I should have done the test from top to bottom since the composition is light to dark left to right.
Doh.
I may get this right.
In a couple of years.
1988 sec exposure (33 min exposure) original version just resized in PS, as you see in the top of birch tree only the north star is not moving all the other stars are moving around north star, it was difficult to take this shot it was so dark outside and very difficult to know where to focus, and it was -20C cold, this image was taken in Finland, town of Nokia.

Porth Wen Brickworks,
30s exposure through a B&W 10stop ND
On the north coast of Anglesey, a few miles west of Amlwch, are the remains of a brickworks. It was opened at the turn of the last century to make refractory bricks for use in the steel industry. The bricks were exported by sea from the works' own harbour. The whole operation closed down at the start of the first world war and most of it has slowly rusted away ever since.
