Happy holidays from a beloved Hyde Park, New York institution.

Eveready Diner in Hyde Park, New York is a local institution.

Feel as though there is some ghosting on the Eveready text.

This is the flashlight we had when I was a kid. Not quite sure how old it is, but it was old when I was young (or so I keep claiming)...

Located in Hyde Park, New York, the Eveready Diner is a favorite of the locals & visitors to the historical home of President Roosevelt.

Large outer label for 12 Indian matchboxes. Knockoff of the EverReady Cat logo in which the cat is jumping through a 9 (for nine lives)

This is the inside of the restaurant that my younger brother, sister-in-law, and I ate in when we went to see the Vanderbilt Estate and Elenore Roosevelt's Summer Home. This diner was not only really cheerful and full of neat things to see, but had yummy food, too! The waitresses were extremely friendly and helpful! We liked it so much that we decided to hit this place on the way home, too! :} Hope your day is going well! I gave this a little "painterly" look!

this man points to where he'll put up the stream of "banderitas" or small flags or banners next. its the fiesta or festival in this town and the "banderitas" that used to be just plain ones with different colors are now replaced with names of commercial products as advertisements.

fred601: Is this the Red Line Diner?

kat_willson: No the eveready

I recently bought this case second hand. It’s a genuine Leica Ever Ready Case (Product ID: 14871) with large front (or long nose) in black leather specifically for a Leica M6 TTL / M6. The used case is broken in and fits my M6 TTL like a glove while stilling easy to remove for film loading. It has a felt lining to protect the camera and grips on the front and back to help you hold it.

The long nose front isn’t really required with my choice of lenses but it gives me flexibility to leave on hoods or use bigger lenses without worry. Best of all the front is detachable meaning I can use it as a half case as in this photo (I plan to use the case like this).

Found these old batteries in an old flash gun. Check out the price! These are from around 1940's. They are a little swollen but they never exploded or corroded the chamber of the light.

"Based on the X-700 chassis, Minolta later launched the cheaper models X-300 and X-500. The X-500 lacked the X-700's program exposure mode, but featured a fill-in flash mode. The X-300 was the basic model of the late X-series. It lacked TTL flash metering and program exposure mode, it did not show the f-stop-setting of the lens in the viewfinder and it did not have a depth-of-field control button. Basic parts of all three cameras, i.e. shutter, viewfinder, mirror system, and light metering system were identical."

From x-300 owners manual:

Quartz/electronically governed 35mm single-lens reflex auto-exposure (AE) camera

Exposure-control modes:

Aperture-priority automatic ("AUTO") and match-LED/full-metered manual ("M")

Exposure control and functions:

Low-voltage, low-current computer circuit varies shutter speed steplesslyaccording to aperture set

in AUTO mode, to yield proper exposure for film speed set; auto-exposurerange: EV 1 to EV 18 (e.g., 1 sec. at f /1.4 to 1/1000sec. at f/16) at ISO 100/21° with f /1.4 lens; AE lock enabling holding meter reading for exposure at that value.

Quartz-controlled horizontal-traverse focal-plane type; stepless speeds 1/1000 to 4 sec. set automatically with selector dial at "AUTO" setting or fixedspeeds 1 to 1/1000 sec. or "B" (bulb) set manually atdetented indications; electromagnetic shutter releaselocks when voltage too low for proper operation.

TTL center-weighted averaging type, by silicon photocell mounted at rear of pentaprism

Film-speed range:

ISO 12/12° to 3200/36° set by film-speed dial that locks at 1/3-EV increments

Triple-coated oversize instant-return slide-up type

Eye-level fixed pentaprism type showing 95% of 24 x 36mm film-frame area; magnification: 0,9x with 50mrn standard lens focused at infinity; power: -1D, adjustable with accessory snap-on eyepiece lenses; Acute Matte focusing screen with central horizontally oriented split-image focusing spot surrounded by micro-prism band; visible around frame: mode indication ("A" or "M"), shutter speed scale with LED setting indication for metered speed and manually set speed, 14 sec. auto-speed indication, over-/underrange LED indicators, "B" setting indication, flash-ready signal, automatic battery check display and metering activated by normal finger contact, or slight pressing of operating button or by engaging AE lock, continue for 15 sec. after finger removed.

Flash sync and control:

Hot shoe for X sync; camera-control contact on hot shoe for automatic setting ofshutter at 1/60 sec. (except when mode/shutter-speedselector at "B") and flash-ready signaling with X-series Auto Electroflashes; other electronic flashes synchronize at 1/60 sec. and slower

manual speeds or "B" setting; Class MF, M, and FP flashbulbs, at 1/15 sec. or slower setting.

Two 1.5v alkaline-manganese (LR44: Eveready A-76 or equiv.), two 1.55v silver-oxide (SR-44: Eveready S-76, EPX-76, or equiv.), or one 3v lithium (CR-1/3N) cell(s).

Electronic for 10-sec. delay, with operationindicated by camera-front LED that blinks at 2Hz for 8sec., then 8Hz for 1 sec., then remains on until shutterreleases, cancelable anytime before releas.

The British Ever Ready Electrical Company (BEREC) was a British electrical firm formed in 1906 as the export branch of the American Eveready Battery Company. In 1914 it became independent of its American parent company. For decades, the firm dominated the UK consumer battery market and had several factories in the UK, the largest of which was built at Tanfield Lea, County Durham, in 1968. Other factories included Dawley, Four Ashes, Maldon, Newburn and Park Lane, Wolverhampton (source: Wikipedia).

There have been several models in the company's attractive and distinctive blue livery. Anyone with an original Dinky Toys No 919 Guy Van will have a handsome investment on their hands. Later models have included a Thames Trader from Corgi, Leyland Comet box from Lledo and a Bedford TK from EFE. I don't know whether Ever Ready ran ERF box vans but Matchbox Toys made an ERF KV four-axle drop-side in company's livery - so there is a precedent of sorts (21-Jun-14).
