Worked on farms and cattle ranches as a young lad in the summers but have no clue as to what this was used for, now on display at the Weeks, Nevada State Park. Processed in Photoshop for contrast and converted to black and white, Topaz black and white for further refinement then Topaz black and white quad tone for some color, clarity and restyle, finished in Photoshop selective color to get the sky color for Slider Sunday

A nice diversion from the usual suspects on the Hoosier Sub was this train of track equipment crossing Dry Fork creek near Borden, IN.
Too bad none of the equipment was used on the line. Track speeds were still good for 40 in some areas, and it would be another 6 years before the trains disappeared.
Been ages since I did a bit of kitchen equipment and weeks since I dusted off the iPad... Staying close to home ATM, looking rather attractive with a touch of conjunctivitis so played with settings in the kitchen again. The first group of images - when inspected closely - showed that this was coated in dust due to the fact that I have separated any egg yolks from egg whites recently. Tried different f stops. This is my favourite as most of it is in focus though the lower settings did add a touch of bokeh and soften edges.!
Light seeps into Level III, the 'Launch and Checkout Room' of the equipment terminal at the Beale 851-C Titan I Missile Base.
The equipment terminal contained 4 floors, accessed by personnel elevators and ladders connecting the levels. The walls were 18" thick and suspended in such a way that they would not be damaged if there was an explosion in the nearby silo.

A new version for a book of drawings I've been working on. I've slightly altered my palette and I think I'll simplify it even further. Ideally I'd like it to be burnt umber, yellow ochre, sap green, paynes grey, cerulean blue, cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow, cadmium red and alizarin crimson.
The pencil sharpener is incredible, you sharpen it in two goes to get a really long point. If I'm honest I don't carry it around with me as you have to concentrate using it rather than quickly sharpening and drawing.
This is me set up at my dark site, the Paint Mine open space near Calhan, Colorado. I'd rate it a 3 on the Bortle scale. The moon was up by this point, and you can see its reflection in my car window. I'd switched to darks at this point and thought I'd snap a pic before packing up.

Back in 2009, I had the opportunity to explore the abandoned and forgotten Warner Grand Theater located on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee, WI.
The Theater is a testament to a city in the height of its success.
A Little History
In 1911, The Butterfly Theater from 1911 located on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee was demolished along with two additional buildings. The buildings were to be replaced by a venture of Warner Brothers to make the fanciest theater in Milwaukee and rival those throughout the nation.
They spent 2.5M to create a first class opening consisting of 2,400 seat luxurious theater along with 12 story, marble veneered office building. Ornamented throughout with monel silver metal wrapped around a beautiful Art Deco style, The building was a monument for the times and a sign that Milwaukee was a city of class and stature along with other big and booming cities in the US.
Thank you to those who helped in making this trip a reality.
Please visit, The Grand Warner Theater Trust Page on Facebook, a group attempting to save the beautiful Grand.

Noguchi's playground equipment designs were criticized on the grounds they were too dangerous. These models were developed as part of a design for a playground to be constructed in Hawaii, but remained unrealized.
