I love how this one turned out and even my biggest critic, who usually likes plain un-manipulated photos, likes it :-)

I made my usual Sunday morning trip to South Coast Botanic Garden today and spent a lot of time with the dahlias. For all the colorful spectacle on display, I was quite taken with this modest pastel bud on the edge of bursting into bloom. (Zuiko 50mm macro, f/6.3, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, heavy overcast, handheld)
I am humbled and honoured by all your comments, feedback, favs and invites! I read every single one of them! It's getting pretty busy for me, so please don't take it personally, if I don't repsond to you immediately. I will try to do my best! :-)
VIEW ON BLACK!! :-)
Talawanda Lake.. The wind stopped blowing enough to let me try and and capture the beauty of these emerging water lilies.... I am so glad that spring has finally arrived. Comments and such are always appreciated!!! This shot is better when viewed large.
This is one of my orchids . . . sadly, I don't remember which one.
I really liked the shape & line of the bud, as well as the glimpse of colour.
Thanks for stopping by . . . Hope you like it

I participate in discovery.

I am not a butterfly collector.
I want the experience of the butterfly.”

Even though I wasn't emerging from gorse, I just love this title by Half Man Half Biscuit, and I was emerging from mist and cloud on my way back down to the tent. It's always worth an early start, to have these dramatic places to one's self, well almost. The hidden valley in the photo is a magical place too, that hardly anyone ever ventures to.

The lower slope of Big Yellow Mountain broke through the clearing fog as the morning sun began to hit.
On my first unaided walk on Sunday I noticed these bud emrging from I am not sure whether a Maple or a Birch tree. These are very small maybe two inches in diameter so shot up close with the 50mm this is what I got.

“We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness” ~ Anonymous
From the archives....dreary spring day today, so I spent some time this morning revisiting some images from previous trips to the Southwest. Perhaps one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had was waiting in the darkness at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands for the sun to emerge over the top of the mountains. The light creates the most spectacular glow on the underside of the arch, which I can only describe as a true visual explosion. A surreal, spiritual, and moving experience...hope to return there again someday when there aren't as many visitors.
Have a great Sunday....forecasting sunny & 69 for us, so hoping to get out and enjoy the day :-) Thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!
