Only a few weeks left in Florida before I head out traveling. I'll sure dream about this place until I come home again in October.
The water may bring peace to my heart, but the sky brings welcome wonderment and drama to stir the soul.
Have a lovely week Flickr friends.
The peaceful week
By Rebekah, 9
I live on a beautiful beach
I meet with my friends
Every day I go swimming in the deep blue sea
I hear waves crashing on the sharp rocks at night
I go to bed happy with a peaceful day in my mind.
I wake up to a nice day and I open the curtains with the sun smiling at me through the window.

Sunset beach load over the Emerald Coast of Lower Alabama (LA). Seven jumpers have formed what we call a BFR - Big F-in' Round - over the Florabama. This shot was taken by me flying camera and into the sunset facing west; the development of Gulf shores can be seen below the jumpers, but due to altitude and perspective, we are actually falling well east of the Orange Beach pass!!
I live in the Falling Waters area of Chipley, Florida. It is a really beautiful place with rolling hills and trees. If you are traveling this way, take a drive through. I know you will enjoy it!

I was finally able to get some longer exposure shots on my trip to Destin using the Hoya ND-400. Still much to learn, but not too bad for an early effort.
Tips & suggestions appreciated!
Thanks for looking & have a wonderful weekend!
Pensacola (/ˌpɛnsəˈkoʊlə/) is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle and the county seat of Escambia County, in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 51,923, down from 56,255 at the 2000 census. Pensacola is the principal city of the Pensacola metropolitan area, which had an estimated 461,227 residents in 2012.
Pensacola is a sea port on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by the barrier island of Santa Rosa and connects to the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of Pensacola near Warrington; it is the base of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum. The main campus of the University of West Florida is situated north of the city center.
The area was originally inhabited by Muskogean language peoples. The Pensacola people lived there at the time of European contact, and Creek people frequently visited and traded from present-day southern Alabama. Spanish explorer Tristán de Luna founded a short-lived settlement in 1559. In 1698 the Spanish established a presidio in the area, from which the modern city gradually developed. The area changed hands several times as European powers competed in North America. During Florida's British rule (1763–1781), fortifications were strengthened.
It is nicknamed "The City of Five Flags", due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history: the flags of Spain (Castile), France, Great Britain, the United States of America and the Confederate States of America. Other nicknames include "World's Whitest Beaches" (due to the white sand of Florida panhandle beaches), "Cradle of Naval Aviation", "Western Gate to the Sunshine State", "America's First Settlement", "Emerald Coast", "Red Snapper Capital of the World", and "P-Cola".

Dune restoration is commonplace all over the Florida Panhandle, especially after the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Signs like this one and many others are scattered everywhere around the beach asking visitors to 'keep off the dunes'. Please heed these whenever your at the beach...
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Oh maker of the sand and sea, how wonderful you also made me. I come in gratitude and enjoy your sandy shores. To dwell in gloom and misery no more.
I am on the outskirts of the oncoming hurricane Irma. There may be possible power outages. Thoughts and prayers are highly appreciated for the state of Florida.
Because of the power outages, I may not be able to respond for a few days to your wonderful and kind comments.
Thank you for your patience. Happy Sunday Flickr Friends!
My family and I went out on the beach one evening right at sunset. I set up my tripod and used the timer on the camera to get this photo of everyone just relaxing and enjoying our time on Ft Walton Beach. Relaxing really doesn't begin to describe sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, and watching the sun slowly fade into the horizon...

Camera - Nikon D5000
