Milford Sound (Piopiotahi in Māori) is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve, and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey (the 2008 Travelers' Choice Destinations Awards by TripAdvisor) and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World

The Perito Moreno Glacier is a glacier Argentino which is situated between 47 º and 51 º south latitude. It stretches from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, on the border between Argentina and Chile to the southern arm of Lago Argentino, possessing five kilometers wide and 60 meters high.

Milford Sound, a world heritage site in south island of New Zealand has been judged the world's top travel destination among international surveys and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Rudyard Kipling had rightfully called it the eighth Wonder of the World. Collage of clouds, mountains, sea, waterfalls and serenity along with excellent infrastructure to explore, makes it an ideal set-up for poetic inspiration!

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, before I tell you any more, I'm going to show you the greatest thing your eyes have ever beheld. He was a king and a god in the world he knew, but now he comes to civilization merely a captive.

A show to gratify your curiosity: ladies and gentlemen, look at Kong, the Eighth Wonder of the World."

There is so much going on in this photo - probably won't appeal to everyone, but I for one am drawn to complexity. Which is why I took this shot. Hope you like. I need to get some sleep now. More tomorrow....

It is one of the most impressive glaciers and has been called the "eighth wonder of the world" because of the view you have of your top. Located in an area surrounded by woods and mountains, is within the Los Glaciares National Park, created in 1937 in the province of Santa Cruz, located south of Argentina. This park of 724,000 hectares has a total of 356 glaciers. \

At various points of its length, the glacier dam the waters of Lake Argentino, making this reaches a height of 30 meters. At this point the water begins to put pressure on the ice. This pressure creates a tunnel with an opening of more than 50 meters, where the waters of the River Arm end down to the Lago Argentino. The water pressure causes a cave on the edge of the glacier, forming an incredible spectacle.

The same shot everyone took :)

Made Explore (just barely) for 01 June 2009. Thanks for all the comments and faves!

Saturday night in Manhattan, and my wife, a friend and I are suffering through what has to be the biggest tour ripoff in the entire Big Apple -- the City Sights night tour. Just a disaster from the start. I could have done a better job than the tour guide they dragged out of bed to lead this one, and it was only my second time in the city.

But worth the price of admission was the stop it made at Water Street near Barge Music and the River Cafe in Brooklyn for a 20 minute photo op. Even though I had no tripod because we made the decision to take this tour at the last minute, I was able to improvise and rest the D80 on a flat concrete post and use the self timer to trigger the shutter. Thanks to the architect who designed the pier.

Check out the detail large on black if you wish...

Taken yesterday morning atop Hunt's Mesa in Monument Valley. A little preview of what I have in the works as of late. More to come, stay tuned....

I was privleged to get to take my taco up there -- this is on the Navajo reservation so and this was a guided trip.... Luckily we brought just enough photo gear that it made sense to take a 3rd vehicle. So I got a rare chance to four wheel in Monument Valley :)
