Rushed. Rly. On a Sunday morning of all things. Isn't right. Not at all. Not when Scarlet Sunday has a weekly showcase eager for your additions.

This had a preset applied a while back ('When the hurly-burly's done', available for free download) but then I tweaked and tweaked. Lowering the vibrance was what really did it. Quite like it now. Could be better, but okay for the moment. There may be more. Later. Rly. Note the 'may'.

Definitely wrong.

Built in 1883, the twelve-story red-brick building that now houses the Hotel Chelsea opened in 1884 as one of the city's first private apartment cooperatives. At the time of its construction, the Chelsea Hotel stood as the tallest building in New York. The co-op went bankrupt in 1905 and it was then opened as a hotel. Though the Chelsea no longer accepts long-term residencies, the building is still home to many (and a second home to many more). Presently, transient guests are limited to a maximum stay of 24 nights.The hotel has a long and colourful history of famous residents and guests;

Sir Arthur C. Clarke wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey while staying at the Chelsea, and poets Allen Ginsberg, and Gregory Corso chose it as a place for philosophical and intellectual exchange. It is also known as the place where the writer Dylan Thomas was staying when he died of alcohol poisoning on November 9, 1953, and where Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, was found stabbed to death on October 12, 1978.

Writers include; Mark Twain, O. Henry, Herbert Huncke, Dylan Thomas, Arthur C. Clarke, William S. Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Arnold Weinstein, Leonard Cohen, Sharmagne Leland-St. John, Arthur Miller, Quentin Crisp, Gore Vidal, Tennessee Williams, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac (who wrote On the Road there), Robert Hunter, Jack Gantos, Brendan Behan, Richard Collins, Simone de Beauvoir, Robert Oppenheimer, Jean-Paul Sartre, Bill Landis, Thomas Wolfe, Charles Bukowski, Raymond Kennedy, Matthew Richardson, and René Ricard. Charles R. Jackson, author of The Lost Weekend, committed suicide in his room at the Chelsea on September 21, 1968. Dylan Thomas collapsed in Room 205 at the Chelsea on Nov 9th 1953 and died a few days later in hospital.

Film actors and directors include; Stanley Kubrick, Shirley Clarke, Mitch Hedberg, Dave Hill, Miloš Forman, Lillie Langtry, Ethan Hawke, Dennis Hopper, Vincent Gallo, Eddie Izzard, Hal Miller, Kevin O'Connor, Uma Thurman, Elliot Gould, Elaine Stritch, Michael Imperioli, Jane Fonda, Gaby Hoffmann and her mother, the Warhol film star Viva, and Edie Sedgwick.

Musicians include; The Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, Patti Smith, Virgil Thomson, Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, Henri Chopin, John Cale, Édith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Canned Heat, Sid Vicious, Richard Hell, Rufus Wainwright, and Leonard Cohen, Madonna, Falco, Ryan Adams.

Visual artists have included Christo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Robert Crumb, Jasper Johns, Edie Sedgwick, Willem De Kooning, and Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Several survivors of the Titanic stayed for some time in this hotel as it is a short distance from Pier 54 where the Titanic was supposed to dock. The Chelsea was also home to many sailors returning from their duties in World War I.

The hotel has been immortalized in poetry, prose, paintings, film and television.

Here it is - Charlie & Jo's bee cake! I'm genuinely sad that it's all over, I have been excited about this since Charlie first called me. Why bees, I hear you say? Apparently it's a bit of a joke between the two of them, and Eddie Izzard!

So - fun facts about the cake: Handpainted bees (big thanks to @neviepiecakes and her wonderful wonderful cake painting course). Sculpey (clay) bee toppers, which are going to be used as christmas tree decorations (love this idea so much it makes me smile just to type it). One bee has pink hair because the bride does too.

Best the best thing of all is that inside this cake, it's a traditional victoria sponge. Except...the sponge is yellow, the buttercream is black - it's got BEE on the inside!!!

The Village was swarming with tourists! I picked a fine day to visit the shoe repair, but I found a parking space.

My wife, Amy, doing a great job at looking like her "boyfriend" Eddie Izzard. Background used with the permission of the artist "caudetano." For more of his wonderful work, please go to flickr.com/photos/27697266@N03/

FROM AMY: I still need help over on Eddie Izzard's website in the Fan Gallery. If you like this picture, please kick up the stars. It only takes a few moments and really means a lot to me. Thanks to everyone for your help!

Eddie Izzard was in Cardiff today supporting the Wales Labour party. I managed to get a few shots of him chatting to supporters and posing for pictures.
