One of the most famous moai buried on the outer slopes of the volcano Rano Raraku - Easter Island, Chile
The mystery Easter Island - Rapa Nui, the Polynesian name - is a small volcanic island in the South Pacific Ocean and one of the most isolated places on earth.
Easter Island bears witness to a unique cultural phenomenon. From the 10th to the 16th century, a society of Polynesian origin that settled there c. A.D. 300, built shrines and erected enormous stone figures known as moai , which created an unrivalled cultural landscape that continues to fascinate people throughout the world.
Volcano Rano Raraku is the great quarry where virtually all moai statues were made.
Most of the 900 moai in the island come from the slopes of the Rano Raraku volcano. Today, the visitors who walk through the external and internal slopes of the Rano Raraku can contemplate several tens of these impressive statues, most of them with their body buried.

The painting of easter eggs has strong tradition especially in the Bucovina, in the north of Romania, where it is a real art.
These are not wooden eggs, but real (empty) ones.

Happy Passover or Easter, If you do that. Otherwise just Happy Sunday I guess. Yes, this was in a cemetery, on a gravestone because, yes, Charlie's newest 'thing' is exploring Hope cemetery. A good thing, I think; now I have someone to go with me when I explore Hope cemetery.

After days of fighting on Dublin city streets, there were approximately 300 civilians casualites and the executions of sixteen rebel leaders.

One of the Easter Lilies from my backyard and from my archives! :-) I shot this flower in front of a sheet of black velvet cloth using no flash!
There are very few plants in my yard from the original owner and these lilies keep coming back every year. I have lived here 22 years and they are still here! :-)
The magnificent white lily known as the Easter Lily has long stood as a symbol of purity, hope, innocence and peace. Also called the Bermuda lily, the Trumpet lily, and Jacob's Tears, the Easter lily is a biblical flower commonly associated with the resurrection of Christ.
In Christian tradition, the Easter lily signifies rebirth and a new beginning. It is said that beautiful white lilies sprang up in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus wept in the last hours before he was betrayed by Judas.
The lily is mentioned frequently throughout the Bible and serves today as a beautiful reminder of the significance of the Easter season. Easter lilies grace homes and churches each spring as a symbol of purity, joy, hope and life.
last summer this was one of my best session. It's a one hour motorbike ride to the top of the pass "Furkajoch". To drive be motorbike has beside the driving fun also the advantege to park the vehicle everywhere you want. Especially with the narrow mountain roads you could spare your nerve. My motivation here was to capture the sunrise. So I had to start early in the darkness. But I was some minutes to late the sun was rising, you could see it in the lower picture. Clouds gaves me the advantage to enjoy a further sunrise.
At this location I was fascinated on the round hill in foreground. To have such an element in the near is interesting for composition exercises. Because when you move some steps to the side, the view will change totally. This gives you the advantage to arrange the scene in a quick way.
Could you see the hiding Easter Bunny?

EASTER ISLAND: Moai at the quarry on Easter Island in the Pacific.
One of our great stops on the Around the World jet trip with National Geographic Expeditions in January.
Shot with two SB800's on PW's, one to the left out of picture light face of the big Moai. Other one hidden behind the big guy lighting up the Moai on the right. Full CTO on both of them. You can see more at my website at www.jimrichardsonphotography.com

Easter (Greek: Πάσχα, Ethiopic: ፍሲካ, Pascha) is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year. According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion. Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday (also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday), two days after Good Friday and three days after Maundy Thursday. Read More

Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle. It is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. The nearest inhabited land (around 50 residents) is Pitcairn Island, 2,075 kilometres (1,289 mi) away; the nearest continental point lies in central Chile, 3,512 kilometres (2,182 mi) away. Easter Island is famous for its 887 statues, called "Moai", created by the early Rapa Nui people.
Freezing cold at the west coast this Easter…..
Still some of the local fishermen went out with their fishing net, so nice plaice or cod for dinner for those who bought some at the beach from them.
The first snow this year and the temperature fell to - 9 degrees Celsius / -15.8 Fahrenheit.
