One of four remaining ducklings at Seaton Wetlands Devon.

Mother Nature never fails to surprise us! Doesn't this Kenna flower look like a duckling!?

A close-up of a Duckling - taken at Ambleside Park, West Vancouver, BC.

I took this with a Canon Rebel t2i. This duckling was laying beside the canal waiting for mom and siblings to wake up. As soon as mom woke up and went in, this duckling was second to go! It was cool to see the clouds reflected on the still water. It gave the picture a dreamy quality to it.

A short break for the urban series :)

I came across some very young ducklings today while kayaking at Ludington State Park.

I probably picked the worst day to go out looking for ducklings. LOW overcast skies, wind and rain. I had to shoot at ISO 1250 and used my "slower" telephoto lens...handheld...and believe me, these wild mallards were not sitting still at all....they were always on the move. So if you bother to view this large [I don't recommend it] you will see a noisy and soft image. [Scroll down to see two more pics].

If you live in my area, this was taken in Battleground ---at a stream about two miles before Battleground Lake [no ducklings at the lake yet].

Thank You Josie for 2 more years of Flickr Pro!

Have a nice day!

The ducklings finally swam away from the spillway out into the lake where mom's battle was taking place, not sure what was happening, although they may have seen this before. I worried what would happen to them should mom be severely injured. Watched a male that is not her mate try to force himself on the mom with 10 new ducklings trying to mate with her. I think this had occurred before seeing her quick response and loss of feathers on both of them. It will likely take place again with her being only one of two females on the tiny lake. Have never seen a skirmish continue for more than a few seconds before, this continued non stop for over 3 minutes at high speed not felt by still photos. Sorry for so many photos at once, especially since many not very sharp or exposed correctly, just saving to my wildlife album. Left out a lot. Many never see this again.

This little fellow lost his mum, so today he is on the way to a animal shelter

Some people were feeding ducklings by a pond so naturally I lay down in front of them and took some photos.

I waited until the duckling was side-on to the sun so that its face wouldn't be hidden in shadow. I kept my shutter speed high because they were shifting pretty fast!

I like the way mum is swimming in the opposite direction. The surface of the water is littered with fluff from the willow trees.

Not the best of quality but I loves those fluffy things ;-)
