Last week we were able to mix a little pleasure with business while away from town and we did our annual visitation to the Platte River in Central Nebraska to see the spring migration of the Sandhill Cranes. One of the great spectacles in nature! We were extremely lucky that even with mechanical problems we arrived 30 minutes before sunset on the warmest day we have seen in the last 6 months.
Here a small group of cranes head for a river sandbar to join tens of thousands of other cranes for protection from the night
PS. I almost got run over by a huge farm combine on this bridge a few seconds after taking this image! I litterally had to climb on the railing and hang over the river!!
(The things we do to get a photo!!!)
