Seen on my recent trip to Weymouth, these beautiful creatures were giving rides to children on the beach. They were in fantastic condition, well shod and obviously well loved by both the owner and the children.
A donkey called Shrek living happily in the secret Donkey sanctuary, he can't hold ears up anymore but he's happy now and soo loving.
I'm quite sure they can bite and kick. When provoked probably !
Seconds after taking this he was nuzzling up to me while I stroked his nose and ears !
I love donkeys, think they're a lovely animal. But even if I did want to risk him not being traced, don't think I'd have got him in the back of my Astra, even with the seats folded down :-)
When fishes flew and forests walked
And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born.
With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody
On all four-footed things.
The tattered outlaw of the earth,
Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,
I keep my secret still.
Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
And palms before my feet.”

Stopped for refreshments at the popular New Forest watering hole to find this donkey parked up in the bike stand.
These donkeys roam around freely at night and like many other people I have a soft spot for these creatures.
Unfortunately there are people that neglect and abuse them and it is always nice to see ones like these that are being cared for.
